Berkcan was absolutely...
Berkcan was absolutely amazing! He showed us around Istanbul and made the whole experience so special. He shared so much fascinating history about the incredible monuments and took the time to explain everything so well. He also showed us some great local places to eat and introduced us to traditional Turkish coffee. Lunch was at an amazing local spot, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our day. We couldn’t recommend Berkcan enough knowledgeable, friendly and such a pleasure to spend the day with. If you’re visiting Istanbul, definitely book a tour with him!

Istanbul highlights walking tour
Our guide, Sabit was professional and knowledgeable. Even though Tripadvisor confirmed our tour, we didn't have guide or pickup details. Sabit let us know what to expect the day before our tour (mosque dress code etc.) and when he would meet us at our hotel so we weren't left wondering. He was very energetic and we covered a lot of territory efficiently and enjoyably.

absolutely amazing but little tricky...
This tour was absolutely amazing! I would definitely hire a private tour operator again for a future vacation. We saw all of the best landmarks, and everything was going wonderfully—until the end of the tour. The tour guide took us to a rug shop, and this is where things became a little tricky. The shop owner/assistant kept showing us rugs, even though we weren’t interested. At one point, my husband had to stop him and clearly tell him that we were not interested and that he could stop. I felt this was very unprofessional at the point but my husband read they well... Then they took us to the jewelry section, where things became even more uncomfortable. We were sold what was presented as “Sultan” jewelry with silver for $300. Later, when we visited the Grand Bazaar, we found very similar jewelry for much less, and it appeared more like a silver finish rather than what we had originally been led to believe. We understand that authentic Sultan jewelry can be very expensive and that there are also many high-quality lab-made alternatives available in the market. Because of the significant price difference and the way the sale was handled, we believe that somewhere between the shop and the tour operator, we were misled. Thankfully, after we spoke with the tour operator about our concerns, we did receive our money back. Overall, the tour itself was wonderful, but please be careful when shopping during tours in Istanbul. Don’t feel pressured to buy anything, and if something doesn’t feel right, take your time and compare prices elsewhere. Just sharing our experience so other travelers can be cautious and avoid having the same experience.
