    All-encompassing experience thru the icefields

Alysa is super knowledgeable about all aspects of the park, including the local ecology, geology, history, all which encompassed a thorough view of the wonders that are the icefields! A very thoughtfully laid out itinerary for all groups, with plenty of time to enjoy each stop without feeling rushed. The weather also turned out beautifully for us adding so much to the experience. Thanks again for your hard work and appreciation of nature :)

Tour Provider Cancelled Day Of Tour

As we were waiting for the tour guide to arrive, we received a text message and a phone call that the tour operator could not do the tour and had to cancel. We did receive a refund but this was devastating as much of our vacation was planned around this and we had no contingency. Rental car places are all closed on Sunday. We did receive a refund but this was a nightmare level experience.

Response from the operator: We’re truly sorry for the cancellation and completely understand how devastating this must have been, particularly after planning your day and vacation around the tour. Your guide became unexpectedly ill on the morning of the tour, and while we tried to find last-minute cover, we were unfortunately unable to do so. We regret that we were unable to provide the experience you had planned for and sincerely apologize for the disruption to your trip.

    Ice Parkway Tour

We had booked our trip for 8:00 am, but somehow recorded it as 8:30 in our trip planner. We didn’t realize our error until 8 o’clock. Explore Banff was able to get us on the 8:30 tour. Our guide was terrific. Neither one of us can remember her name, but she was really good and a wealth of information. She went over beyond to provide as much information as we needed.

Response from the operator: We're so glad we were able to get you onto the 8:30 tour and that you had such a great experience! We'd love to make sure your guide receives your kind feedback—if you're able to let us know the date you toured with us at info@explorebanff.com, we can ensure it gets passed along to her. Thank you for sharing your experience!

An experience not to be missed

An amazing adventure. Increasing our appreciation of nature and the variety of it. The Athabasca glacier is awe inspiring and makes one even more aware of human's impact on this world. A huge thanks to our guides Brooke and Zack. Knowledgeable and personable. A great combination. Small group tours are a must.

Response from the operator: We're glad to hear you enjoyed the experience. The Icefields Parkway is definitely a great way to get perspective on the world we live in, and Brooke and Zac both have great knowledge to share. Hopefully we get to welcome you back on another tour in the future

    Flexible and prompt service

This is a fabulous company to deal with. They were prompt answering all questions and flexible when we wanted to change our tour dates. We did two tours and both times the guides were helpful, knowledgeable and really nice people. Thanks Jamie and Andy! Highly recommend.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you had a great experience from start to finish, especially out on tour with Jamie and Andy.

Icefields Parkway Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Banff.

How much does Icefields Parkway Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $121 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Banff usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Icefields Parkway Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Banff is not rushed.

Is Icefields Parkway Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Banff, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Icefields Parkway Experience?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Icefields Parkway Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Icefields Parkway Experience?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Banff can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Banff and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Icefields Parkway Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Banff within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Banff?

    +

On Outty we rank every Banff experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and the Icefields Parkway Full-Day Tour, Hop-On and Hop-Off Banff Bus, ShuttleBus 2way Banff to Lake Louise (1Hr) and Moraine Lake (1Hr). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Banff?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Banff?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
