    Excellent

Excellent experience all around with beautiful scenery, excellent food, and knowledgeable/friendly/accommodating guide. We went to Ixtepeji and were the only 2 on the hike.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really glad you enjoyed the scenery, the food, and the experience with your guide. Ixtepeji is a special place, and it’s great you got to enjoy it at your own pace. Hope to have you back again soon!

A perfect two day hike in the Sierra Notre, Oaxaca

Of our month long trip to Oaxaca, our two day hike from Cuajimoloyas to Lachatao is the highlight. Our guide, Paula, showed immense enthusiasm for the ecosystems we hiked through. The knowledge from the local guides who walked along with us gave an insight into the connection with the land that the communities of the Sierra Notre have. The 25km we hiked on the first day was perfect for us as experienced hikers. I cannot recommend Coyote Adventures enough, and hope I can join them on another adventure in the future.

Response from the operator: Coyote Aventuras is grateful for choosing us to have an adventure alongside us! We can't wait for your next visit to Oaxaca, and spend a new unforgettable adventure, full of excitement, and new people alongside it... thank you!

5 Star Experience, 5 Star People

Coyote Aventuras is without a doubt one of the best guide outfits around. From the very beginning, it was a very smooth process to book the trip. Samantha and the rest of the team are fantastic communicators and will ensure that every detail of the trip is thought through. Hiking in the Sierra Norte is one of the most fond hiking memories I have. From learning about all sorts of plants and animals along the Camino Real to visiting a Zapotec temple at sunrise, every detail of the trip was perfect. The Pueblos Mancomunicados are stunning, and the people in the communities who guide along the trails are delightful. Shai with Coyote Aventuras was a terrific guide who is extremely knowledgeable about everything there is to see in the Sierra Norte. Her upbeat and positive attitude is infectious, and my brother and I had an absolute ball on the trail with her. Coyote arranged all of our meals for the overnight trip as well as the lodging. The cabin we stayed in was a perfect refuge from the cold mountain air at night when we had a fire going. I would recommend Coyote Aventuras to anybody who is wanting to experience a side of Oaxaca that is totally different than the vibe of the city.

    Gorgeous lovely superb

Such a gorgeous place it made me cry when we reached the top. Lovely guide with lots of knowledge of and respect for the area. The food we went to eat after was superb too- made by the local communities with such love and care. Extra perks: comfy ride with good tunes, easy to book, quick to respond.

    Sierra Norte Hiking Trip

My husband and I wanted to do a hiking trip in the Sierra Norte. With the current COVID restrictions there was only one village open to visitors. Coyote adventuras did a wonderful job listening to our requests and personalizing an itinerary that fit our interests. We wanted a trip that was active and full of hiking and coyote adventuras delivered. The cabin we stayed in was clean, the food at the town restaurant was delicious, and our local guide was knowledgeable. Fernando (one of the owners) coordinated the trip and drove us to the town. Fernando was great to work with. We're looking forward to the other towns opening up and booking another trip with Coyote Adventuras!

Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.

How much does Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao cost?

    +

Prices start at $4700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao take?

    +

Plan for about 15 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.

Is Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 15-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 15-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Hike el Camino Real, Latuvi – Lachatao start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
