    1. Hampton Court Palace

At Hampton Court Palace, you'll immerse yourself in the world and former residence of one of England's most famous kings, Henry VIII, and his many wives. Uncover the history of this historic Tudor Palace, with its magnificent buildings, world-famous gardens, priceless art collection and magnificent State Apartments. Nowhere does the splendour of the Tudor court come more vividly to life than in Henry VIII’s Great Hall. Complete with his original magnificent tapestries. As you look up at the roof consider the great skill of the craftsmen who made it and look out for the 'Eavesdroppers' – the carved and painted heads that decorate the roof of the Great Hall. Set in over 60 acres of stunning gardens including landscaping by Lancelot Capability Brown, Hampton Court’s gardens are highlights of the visit. The Hampton Court Maze is of course world famous and as the oldest hedge maze of all it has continued to baffle guests for over 300 years.

    2. Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years and is today one of the official residences of His Majesty The King. Occupying over 10.5 hectares, the Castle offers a varied day out for visitors, including a visit to the magnificent State Apartments and St George's Chapel. The Castle's State Apartments are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal Collection, reflecting the changing tastes of the Castle's royal occupants, particularly those of Charles II and George IV. Many of the works of art are still in the historic settings for which they were first collected or commissioned by the kings and queens who have lived at Windsor. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the Castle with a free multimedia tour. From October to March, visitors can also walk through the sumptuous Semi-State Apartments, which served as the private rooms of George IV in the 19th century.

    Guide with no guidance

This was extremely disappointing and way overpriced. The only reason to go on a private tour is to have an excellent guide who adds value to the tour. Our guide, while pleasant, had a general knowledge about the subject, but lagged far behind the information we could have gotten from a $7 audio tour of each palace. He was unable to point out interesting features of rooms (ie, art, furnishings) and basically told us nothing. We have travelled to many places since covid with private tours (Barcelona, Rome, Florence, the Florida Everglades, Iceland) and this was by far the worst.

Response from the operator: Dear elizabethkY5059IO, Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your private tour did not meet your expectations and that the guide’s commentary fell short of adding the value you were hoping for. We take all feedback seriously and will use your comments to improve our service and training. We appreciate you giving us the chance to host you and hope future experiences with Evan Evans Tours provide the exceptional quality you deserve. Best regards, The Evan Evans Tours Team

    True VIP Service

Both our driver (Simon) and our guide (Lesley) were absolutely TOP CLASS! The entire experience could not have been more gracious and enjoyable. And every detail was taken care of seamlessly, from pick up at our hotel, through lunch reservations in Windsor (kindly made on our behalf), to skip the line access to the Castle.

Response from the operator: Hi S3167XMshaneg, Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion about our services. We are glad that our team did a great job. We take pride in providing a clean and comfortable space for all of our guests, so our team appreciates that you noticed. We will pass on your kind words over to Lesley and Simon. We hope to welcome you onboard another one of our tours in the future! Best wishes Evan Evans

    Just Superb

Although very expensive, this was the best tour I've ever had. Our guide and driver picked us up at our hotel, drove to Hampton Court, dropped us off for lunch, took us to Windsor, and returned us to our hotel. It was worth every dollar. The guide was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The driver was so sweet you could just drive forever. If you can afford the price, I very highly recommend this superb experience. I feel very fortunate.

Response from the operator: Hi Travail7, Thank you so much for this 5-star review. We really appreciate you being a customer and helping to share the word about us. We hope to see you again on another one of our tours! Best wishes Evan Evans

Best Tour of Windsor and Hampton Court

We have always loved Windsor and Hampton Court castles and were so happy we booked this tour. Our guide Karen was the best. She was so knowledgable and shared some great stories. She is well traveled and that provided us some helpful and interesting perspective on history. Would definitely book again!

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for leaving us feedback about the tour. We are glad that our team did a great job. We work very hard to ensure that our customers get outstanding service, and it makes us very happy that it reflected during your recent visit. Best wishes Evan Evans Team

Waste of money / driver- guide not a guide.

First of all , at booking , the description says Expert driver- guide. You can opt for an additional guid separate from the driver or our selection , driver -guide. The day started out well enough, with a nice ride to Hampton court through Richmond and a suggested stop near the famous block of “Ted Lasso” for a photo. Then off to Hampton court. To this point everything was fine. Then at Hampton Court our guide let us out and said , “ see ya later!” And did not accompany us as a guide nor did he even stay at the palace ( I’m actually pretty sure he went home as he said he lived not to far from there) a while later he suggested he make a red at a place for lunch and we agreed, he told us just to walk there from Hampton court, now it wasn’t a far walk, but we were completely lost on the grounds of Hampton court and walking with 4 kids for over 3 hours, it would have been nice to have door to door service for the $1700 + USD we paid. We ate our lunch and emailed the company about our disappointment that the driver did not guide us, on pick up from lunch , we asked to charge my iPhone- he did not have a charger, not water etc. we then drive to Windsor palace where we were almost in 2 accidents on the motorway because of his aggressive driving. The ride was terrifying. He said he would walk us through Windsor palace “ for efficiency “ and this is after my complaint so I don’t know if they was why he came with us. We got there and had to wait in a queue for him for 20 min while he got tickets ( this should have been dealt with ahead of time for this price) then he gave us the speed walking version of a tour, speaking to me and my husband when we could keep up with him, never once did he even talk to the kids or involve them. I would have gotten more from an audio tour. The. The ride home was very tense the whole time because of his aggressive driving. I came home an immediately called the company to complain, they told me to email them so it would be a formal complaint, and so I did. 24 hours later and I still have not heard one work from them. I would have expected for this price to have had a day where I was informed and felt safe at the very least , this tour was the biggest waste of money , and the company has done nothing to try to remedy the situation. Do Not book with Evans & Evans. I am being generous with 2 stars and that was only because at least the car was a nice clean car and the Mercedes’ v class as expected.

Response from the operator: Dear Sarah, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We have approached our supplier and we are now waiting for their full report. We are also checking Viator to ensure clarity of information on tour inclusions and exclusions. We can see our colleague has been in touch with you offline and once we have received a full report from our supplier we will get back to you to reach a resolution. Thank you for your patience, Evan Evans team

Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.

How much does Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London cost?

    +

Prices start at $250 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.

Is Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Hampton Court Palace & Windsor Castle Private Car Tour from London start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in London?

    +

London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit London?

    +

May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in London?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
