What you'll see and do

  1. Melissani Cave

The Cave of Melissani in Kefalonia is situated just outside Sami. It is one of the most dramatic places for tourists to visit in Greece. There is a beautiful lake inside the cave that has pretty trees and forests surrounding it. The cave itself is B-shaped. The roof of one of the halls caved in centuries ago letting beautiful sunlight filter in. The depth of the lake is 20 to 30 meters. After a short transfer time you will have the chance to take a boat ride on the lake. This is a geographical phenomenon. There are approx 7 rowing boats that take about 10 people in each. The guides explain how the lake was formed.

  2. Drogarati Cave

Don't miss the chance to visit the must see attractions in Kefalonia. Drogarati Cave in Kefalonia was discovered 300 years ago and opened to the public in 1963. It was discovered when a strong earthquake caused a collapse that revealed the cave's entrance. Drogarati is an impressive cave with remarkable formations of stalactites and stalagmites. Speleologists say that this cave is about 150 million years old and constitutes a rare geological phenomenon. Please note there approx 150 steps down into the cave. Hand rails have been installed. But some of the cave flooring is a little uneven and at times can be slippery.

  3. Myrtos Beach

Myrtos Beach is one of the most popular attractions in Kefalonia. It is located 29km North of Argostoli, in a charming area surrounded by beautiful hills. Myrtos beach has gained worldwide reputation. It has been voted best beach in Greece many times!

    60 minutes here

  4. The Koutavos Lagoon is an excellent nature reserve for wildlife, including the Caretta Caretta turtle and other birdlife. It is located near the head of Argostoli Bay. The town's greatest park is a shady forest of eucalyptus and pine trees that may be reached by walking or cycling along the wide trail that round the lagoon from the harbour front. Until the Drepano Bridge was built in 1813 to ease access to Argostoli from the settlements across the bay, the lagoon was an almost impassable bog filled with mosquitoes and malaria. A small islet in the lagoon's center is off-limits to visitors because it serves as a nesting and feeding area for waterfowl. The Koutavos Lagoon is located near the mouth of the Argostoli Bay.

Our tour in Cephalonia...

Our tour in Cephalonia with Giota was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She had incredible energy, was warm and welcoming, and met us right in front of the terminal as soon as we got off the cruise, which made everything feel so easy and well organized. Without her, our experience in Cephalonia and the whole tour would not have been nearly as enjoyable. Her enthusiasm and local knowledge truly made the day special. We especially loved Myrtos Beach — what an absolutely beautiful and breathtaking place. The views were unforgettable. Melissani Cave is also an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Cephalonia. It was one of the highlights of our trip. A huge thank you to Giota, who put soul into her job for making our visit so memorable. Highly recommended!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much! We enjoyed the day also! We hope to see you again!!!

Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cephalonia.

How much does Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim cost?

+

Prices start at $49 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cephalonia usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cephalonia is not rushed.

Is Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 52 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cephalonia, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim?

+

Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cephalonia can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cephalonia and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cephalonia within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cephalonia?

+

On Outty we rank every Cephalonia experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include "Dreamy cruise"Daily Cruise from Argostoli harbour with a traditional Greek boat, "QueenBee" Full-Day Boat Trip with Lunch, Kefalonia Island Bus Tour- Wine Tasting, Melissani & Fiscardo. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cephalonia?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cephalonia?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
