Lovely short break to Muir Wood
Or your guide, James, was great. Clear communication, very informative of local places of interest. A safe and patient driver too with great sense of his surroundings.

My experience surpassed...
My experience surpassed my expectations. Everything was run very timely and organized. I attended this solo, and someone from the tour group called me to make sure I’d be showing up, which I appreciated. The tour guide operator/driver, James, was absolutely wonderful. Extremely knowledgeable and gave us such great tidbits of information that was very engaging throughout the entire drive. We stopped shortly for a photo near the Golden Gate Bridge which was a great addition. Went to Muir Woods first for 1.5 hours (always wish I could spend more time there) and Sausalito for about 45 minutes. James did a great job telling us exactly when and where to meet. Overall, my experience went smoothly and I would recommend!

Please return my money
We had a lovely time on this tour of John Muir State Park in California. But this month we booked a tour in Curaçao on the Caribbean cruise. When I realized our ship was not going to be in that port on that day I canceled the day before early morning and now two weeks later still no refund. I thought this was a great company! And they refused to even respond to an email. I guess until I get my $140 I will be reviewing Tripadvisor in numerous places

Disappointed
I love Muir Woods! We got there safely and had the promised 90 minutes. That's worth 3 stars. The excursion description says that hotel pickup is provided for certain hotels. One of those hotels was 2 blocks from ours so I chose that as a pickup point, but when I called to confirm I was told abruptly and several times that we had to go to Post (or Fisherman's Wharf). OK, then why offer something different online. But what really disappointed me was the lack of tour guide. I had read other reviews about how great and knowledgeable their person was. Our driver was also the tour guide which I'm guessing wasn't the original plan. His English was very hard to understand, and he seldom narrated, just basic things and advertisements for different places. He was unable to recognizably say some basic landmark names. I think he did a good job driving, just a lousy job as a narrator

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito cost?
+
Prices start at $84 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Guided Tour to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
