Josh is an awesome tour guide!
Josh was a fantastic tour guide. He knew fun little facts, added great music for each sight he showed us, and was super kind and lots of fun. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who has never been to SanFrancisco before. It’s a short 3 hours and once done you can decide where to revisit. Very happy we signed up and want to say a big thanks to Josh again.

Highlights of SF
We only had a short time to see the highlights of San Francisco since we’re arrived on a cruise ship. This was a perfect tour for us. Chad was very knowledgeable of the city and he gave us some great recommendations.

A Must do if visiting SF.
Chad is great tour guide, the whole experience and sightseeing was perfect for the family. This is the one to do, the 3 hours covers a lot of ground and some amazing sights and views. Plenty of opportunities for photos with your family, and great views. Plenty of insight and history is shared as well. Highly recommend, if you can do it, you should!

A charming, retro tour
Our tour with Chad was a delight. It's a great way to see many areas of the city in just a few hours. I appreciated the fun and sometimes silly (in a good way) narration and learned a lot about SF history. Traveling in the VW bus was pure nostalgia.

Chad was an excellent tour guide with a wealth of information combined with a very likable personality. This tour was very complete in a small setting. Letting passengers rotate seating was a great way to insure equal viewing. Grade it A+

Why this scores 92
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $103 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 92 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 837 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour?
+
Around 293 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Vantigo - The Original San Francisco VW Bus Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
