    Zurich to Lucerne to Pilatus

The entire experience from joining Pedro and Antonio in Zurich to Lucerne to Mt Pilatus and back were simply amazing. Really helped that Pedro spoke different languages.

    Excellent

We take lots of tour and one important thing is your guide and the drive and what I can tell you Monica jorba tour guide she was detailed gave us information when we were driving there and driving back which is wonderful and let me tell you she kept us very organized with a group this large she was very detailed and informative . She was also aware of a marathon and had the driver take a different route so we wouldn't be stuck in traffic for the last 20 yrs I have been on alot of tours I know she is the best tour guide I have ever had and elia the driver also did a good job getting us there safely. I will definitely book again when we return next year is there a way to request her as a guide? Thank you for the clean and comfortable transportation/bus

    Good Tour But….

There were four of us that booked this tour. We were disappointed to learn once we were on the bus heading from Zurich to Lucern that our tour would not include the advertised boat ride on Lake Lucern or the Gondola cable ride down from Mt Pilatus. Maybe we would not have booked it if this were made known ahead of time. The tour operator YO Tours, said the boat ride only occurs during the summer season. And they indicated that the Gondola cable ride down was not going because they do maintenance in October and November. They did provide a $20 voucher toward lunch which could be used at either of the two restaurants at the top of Mt Pilatus, however only one of the restaurants was open…another small disappointment. Overall it was a great experience and the guide was excellent, but not what we expected based on the tour description on trip advisor. It felt like a bait and switch situation. After we brought it to the tour operator’s attention, they informed the internet booking sites. Hopefully it will not happen to future travelers.

Not what was advertised and paid for

One of the biggest reasons we booked this was because it included so many great features, even though the price was quite high compared to competitive companies. After paying, our confirmation email showed this for what was included in our package (copied directly from confirmation): WHAT'S INCLUDED Air-conditioned vehicle Panoramic Gondolas and Aerial Cableway Dragon Ride to Mount Pilatus Cogwheel Train 1-Hour Boat Ride on Lake Lucerne Fully Guided tour by Professional Multilingual Guide WHAT'S EXCLUDED Gratuities Private transportation Lunch It wasn't until after the bus was on the way to the first stop that we were informed there was no boat ride. In exchange they were going to give us a $20 voucher towards lunch at the top of Mt. Pilatus. Then once we got to the Cog train to go to the top of the mountain, we were also informed that there was no Cable Car ride either, because that was closed for 2 months of scheduled maintenance (in other words, they knew it wasn't operating when the sold us the tour, but never bothered to mention it). There was no compensation for the missing cable car ride. Finally, when we got to the top of the mountain, the main restaurant was closed, so we couldn't use our vouchers there. The only thing open was a self-serve cafeteria. style restaurant with a very limited (and very expensive) selection of food. We paid almost $200 per person for the boat ride, cog train, and cable car, and only one of the 3 happened, and yet they did not refund or reduce our fees in any way. They knew the boats and cable car weren't running, but didn't say anything until you were already on the bus an hour away from Zurich. The guide explained that this was the winter version of the tour and that the website we purchased from should have been updated. We definitely would not have booked this tour at this price had we known two thirds of it weren't operating. The only reason I didn't give this one star was because the Cog train, mountain, and Lucerne were fantastic. But if you want to take a similar tour, I highly recommend using a different tour company.

    Bad Alps

we signed up for multi adventure tour. Bus, boat, cog train, gondola. The boat was cnxled due to end of season. The Gondola was cnxled for maintenance and the restaurant they gave a voucher for was closed. This trip sucked but the guide was great and kept apologizing so that was nice.

Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zurich.

How much does Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich cost?

    +

Prices start at $108 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Zurich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zurich is not rushed.

Is Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Zurich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zurich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zurich and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guided Daytrip to Mount Pilatus and Lucerne from Zurich start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zurich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Zurich?

    +

On Outty we rank every Zurich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Zurich Food Tour with 10 Local Delicacies, Cheeses & Chocolates, Private, excellent guided tour of Zurich (from CHF 21/pers.), Zürich Historic District Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Zurich?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Zurich?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
