About this experience
The Tour will take place in the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum and in the Oplonti villa, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. The vast expanse of the commercial city of Pompeii contrasts with the better preserved remains of Herculaneum, while the splendid frescoes of the Villa Oplontis in Torre Annunziata give a vivid depiction of the lifestyle enjoyed by the wealthier classes in the early Roman Empire . You will take a step back in time, during the Roman era. Relax aboard a Mercedes sedan or minivan, with wifi and a bottle of water on board. Our drivers will speak English, know the territories you will visit well and will be able to give you excellent advice. You will be picked up directly at the point of departure, from the port, station, airport or other place (hotel), you will be dropped off at the exact point of your arrival and you will be assisted with your luggage. THE CUSTOMER MUST CONTACT US TO CONFIRM THE TIME OF THE TOUR.

What you'll see and do
Archaeological Park of Pompeii
Pompeii is one of the most significant pieces of evidence of Roman civilization and provides exceptional information on the art, customs, crafts and daily life of the past. The city has re-emerged after centuries just as it would have been when it was buried in the layer of ash and lava from the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. In what had been one of the most active and splendid centers of Rome, life stopped definitively. - You will have 2 hours free to visit the ruins of Pompeii. If you want I can find a guide for you. (the price of the guide and tickets are not included in the tour)

Scavi di Oplontis
By archaeological excavations of Oplontis we mean a series of archaeological finds belonging to the Pompeian suburban area of Oplontis, buried together with Pompeii and Herculaneum after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79: today the archaeological area is located in the center of the modern city of Torre Annunziata and includes an otium villa called «di Poppea» and a rustic villa «di Lucius Crassius Tertius». - You will have 1.5 hours free to walk through the ruins of Oplontis. If you want I can find a guide for you. (the price of the guide and tickets are not included in the tour)

Archeological Park of Herculaneum
The Roman city of Herculaneum, destroyed and buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, was brought back to the chronicles of history in the eighteenth century thanks to Bourbon explorations. - You will have 1.5 hours free to walk among the ruins of Herculaneum. If you want I can find a guide for you. (the price of the guide and tickets are not included in the tour) - Between one attraction and another, the customer can decide to stop for a typical lunch, in a beautiful restaurant near Pompeii, overlooking Mount Vesuvius. For adults, together with lunch you can have a tasting of typical Vesuvius wines. Afterwards everyone will be able to take a guided tour of the cellars and vineyards. The lunch with visit will last approximately 2 hours. - You will probably need to add extra hours if you add lunch, since it will take more than 8 hours, but we will decide this together. (TASTING IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE, MINIMUM VALUE €45) It can be replaced with another restaurant or eliminated.

Reliable transportation throughout our vacation
Palma and his team were just what we needed to navigate our experience on the Amalfi Coast. We hired the drivers for several trips. The vans were always clean and well maintained. The drivers were always punctual, safe and very knowledgeable about the area. All were local residents who knew the best routes, restaurants, look out points and stories about the journey. Palma was easy to work with and sent the name of the driver and the driver’s contact information ahead of time so we knew who to meet where. I recommend using this team for your travels in the area as well as transportation to and from the airport. Overall excellent service and I do not recommend renting a car unless you are thoroughly familiar with the driving customs of the area. Hire and driver and enjoy the scenery!
Response from the operator: As we always say, before drivers we like to be your friends and knowing that we are successful every day makes us so happy! Our first tip is to relax and enjoy the trip, we'll take care of everything else! Thank you, it was nice talking and traveling with you! we can't wait to see you again!

Don’t pass up this tour.
The tour was amazing! I would highly recommend. Palma was my contact and was so accommodating. Our cruise schedule changed and we were able to use the same booking. Our driver, Nello, was so great as well. He was so prompt and courteous. In addition to visiting the archaeological sites, we stopped for lunch at a local winery which was incredible. When we return to Italy, we will definitely use Palma and Nello!

The beautiful tour
Antonio was just fabulous. He looked after us and adapted the tour to our needs. Nothing was too much trouble. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great tips on what to see and where to go to get the most from our visit. Strongly recommended.

Excellent transfer service / clean Mercedes van
We booked two day trips from Maiori to Naples area (Pompeii and Herculaneum) organized by Palma whose communications before and during the trips were outstanding. We changed our plans a couple times and Palma was very accommodating of our requests, even at relatively short notice on the second trip. Our driver Nello was delightful, offering many insights during our commute, stopping to take our photo from mountaintop views, etc.. He was on time, every time we stopped to visit our sights. Top notch agency to book your transfers with!

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis cost?
+
Prices start at $68 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Private Tour to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
