After the meeting with the guide in Lisbon, start your journey to Évora through the Vasco da Gama Bridge. After crossing the Tejo River, spend the next 1.5 hours looking at the beautiful region of Alentejo. After arrival in the historic center there will be a small walk, some of the streets are inclined, so it is not recommended for people as mobility difficulties. In the historic center, stop at the Roman Temple of Évora. Nearby, the Cathedral of Évora, a Gothic structure from the 12th century. The Church of San Francisco features Gothic and Baroque architecture, along with the Bone Chapel, decorated with bones. Take a break from your walk and explore the historic streets on your own. Lunch in a place of your choice (on your own expense) and spend time diving in some souvenir shops. This tour includes a visit to the cork manufacturing and wine or olive taste option. Not included lunch, monument tickets and extra tasting fees are at your charge.

Disappointing Tour with Moonshadow Tours
Unfortunately this was a very poorly executed tour. Casandra from a Moonshadow was the tour guide. She never really spoke, just drove us. Would drop us off at sites and we walked around ourselves. We had to pay for lunch (25 Euros). She was wrong about our tour price, didn’t make any reservation for a wine tasting. finally found a winery and also did the wine tasting and then drove which we felt was NOT appropriate. None of the other tour guides participated in drinking. The van was supposed to have WiFi which didn’t last as she said the battery had died on the way back. Very disappointed in the whole experience

History Unfolded
First off for those of you who have never read any of my many previous reviews let me first say a few words to prepare you. One, I never leave the maximum rating possible. My belief is that it would give the rate no incentive to strive to better their performance, and also allows them the needed room to improve. Two, I believe and have been told I am firm but fair. Now. This was a most enjoyable destination that I had been waiting awhile to visit. What I learned was that the tourist should have been forewarned that the walk would be most difficult for a senior citizen or one with a type of medical condition. The roads were very steep throughout and broken in many places. They required an excellent walking ability and a good amount of youthful energy. My day was long and I logged over 7.5 miles. To add this was done in a sweltering heatwave. Beware. As far as the tour I saw much. It was fascinating and most satisfying. Now, on a negative side. We were assigned a young woman named Katerina as our days guide. While pleasant, it did not take long to see she lacked several skills for the position. She spoke in a very low voice. When she did speak, infrequently, she did not provide much information at all about what we were seeing. While she did not appear to be she was an excellent walker/hiker. I say this because she was constantly way ahead of my wife and I and if not for my wife pointing that out we would have been left way behind. Maybe she was having an off day. Good luck.

Amazing Guide Made Our Day
Our tour guide, Katerina, was so graceful and did such a wonderful job tailoring our tour to our desires. She went with us at each site, providing interesting historical information without the overkill factor of some guides that do not know how to stop talking! We enjoyed the ruins of Evora and Monseraz. We had some left over time at the end. She made a few calls for us and was able to get us a private tour of a cork factory, which we so wanted to do. It was so interesting and the least expensive place to buy cork products that we found in Portugal. Two thumbs up!
