Amazing Trip, Even in the Rain!

We went on the Aveiro, Paiva Walkways and Suspension Bridge from Porto excursion yesterday, and despite a storm of unusual heavy rain and wind throughout the day for Portugal, we had a great time. Costa was our guide, and he was super friendly and fun. Crossing the suspension bridge in pretty heavy rain, and gusts of wind, was exciting and unforgettable! Heading down the stairs in the rain provided unexpected views of nature during the storm. We were already quite wet, so all of us just walked along and enjoyed the visit. Lunch at Cafe de Jonas was truly delicious… and plentiful! We were thrilled that the sun came out to help dry us off when we stopped at the fisherman’s village of Costa Nova, and then Aviero, where we had some good laughs from the tour on the Moliceiros tour. Our best suggestions are to bring rain coats or ponchos, and wear waterproof shoes if there is a forecast of rain, and/or bring a full change of clothing (including a different pair of shoes) and a towel, as we were drenched, but the warm August temperature allowed the experience to be super fun! Thank you again to Costa for teaching us about Portugal, and for sharing the day with us!

    Highlight of our Porto stay

This is a great value trip, Arouca for the suspension bridge and walkways, Costa Nova for the beach and fishing houses, and Aveiro for some charming town experiences - including the chance to try Ovos Moles. We had an amazing guide in Ricardo, who gave us lots of his knowledge and was friendly and helpful throughout. Highly recommend this trip

An incredible walk with breath taking views, Ricardo the tour guide was every bit worth it.

An incredible walk with breathtaking views, we did so much in this fun packed day. Ricardo was excellent from start to finish. He provided lots of recommendations for local activities, places to eat and photo opportunities. He though of everything from providing us with sample pastries and expressos to finish our lunch off to handing us a ribbon to make a wish at the bridge in Aveiro. He was the perfect balance of fun and relaxed. Thank you Ricardo! We'll let you know if our wishes come true.

The tour has potential, but needs adjustments.

The tour definitely had a lot of potential. I loved the suspension bridge and the walkways, but the Costa Nova time was too short. I also felt like the tour guide was not as knowledgeable about what made Costa Nova and Aveiro unique, and why it was worth going. We also didn’t receive enough recommendations to really take advantage of the two towns, felt too open, for someone who’s never been there before. Therefore it felt like we spent more time in the van, rather than the towns. The lunch was incredible. We also couldn’t hear the tour guide while sitting at the back of the van, so the tour guide wearing a microphone may be better. We also had passengers who didn’t speak English, and the tour guide didn’t use Google Translate to try to accommodate those guests. Overall, the first part of the tour before lunch was excellent, but the second half after lunch was pretty dull. I would’ve been fine with ending the tour after lunch. Perhaps Costa Nova and Aveiro should be left for a separate tour in order to understand and explore those better. Additionally, it will be helpful for the tour guide to be more knowledgeable about all the locations we are going to, as this tour wasn’t cheap.

Great day, good company and entertaining guide!

We had a great day in Aveiro and the walkways and bridge were stunning! Thanks to our driver and guide Ricardo we learned about the environment and he was really entertaining. It was a small group of 8 people so we did not have to wait long to go to the next stop.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.

How much does From Porto: Aveiro, Paiva Walkways, Suspension Bridge and Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $104 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does From Porto: Aveiro, Paiva Walkways, Suspension Bridge and Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.

Is From Porto: Aveiro, Paiva Walkways, Suspension Bridge and Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 86 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 536 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule From Porto: Aveiro, Paiva Walkways, Suspension Bridge and Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is From Porto: Aveiro, Paiva Walkways, Suspension Bridge and Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book From Porto: Aveiro, Paiva Walkways, Suspension Bridge and Lunch?

    +

Around 188 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does From Porto: Aveiro, Paiva Walkways, Suspension Bridge and Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Porto?

    +

On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Porto?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Porto?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
