Does the job
Does the job nothing special. Pretty much a taxi up and down. Just be vigilant about going to the desk to check in and get on bus on time for pickup.

No mention of the hour plus long hike!
The itinerary says nothing about the strenuous hike up the volcano to the crater. The trek up to the rim is at least an hour up a steep dirt path along the side of the volcano. Then you have to walk back down. The tour describes the bus taking you up to the volcano where you can explore the crater, as follows.... "The bus will take you to the gate to access the Vesuvius crater here you will show your entrance tickets and freely explore the top of the volcano. When you have finished visiting the crater you will take the same bus at the exit to come back to Pompeii." You cannot see the crater or the top of the volcano from the parking lot or anywhere near where the bus drops you off. You must hike up. We had no idea how far it was, we just started hiking up. Luckily we were wearing sturdy shoes. But we had to hustle through this very strenuous hike just to make it up and back in time for bus. A couple of us didn't even have time to walk along the rim. Very disappointing.

Easy booking & great day
We went to the ticket office near hotel Vittoria, we were given our tickets and also access to the audio guide. As a group we were then shown to a nearby bus. We drove about 40 mins and were dropped off at the cone, told to meet the driver in 2 hours. The climb is hard but worth it. There were huts on the way selling drinks and ice creams. The views were spectacular. The driver was right on time and we were dropped off at hotel vittoria. Dont worry about taking my a jumper for the top, the cooler air is a welcome after the walk up. Make sure you wear good shoes, trainers will do. The ground is loose and on the way down can be quite hard to keep your footing.

10/10 Recommend
Instazione was great. Everything was straightforward and the bus driver and Instazione workers were very friendly. MT Vesuvius gran cono was very cool and they give you enough time to go up and down plus do a little shopping. Just make sure your back at the bus at the time they say! Our bus driver did his best and waited an extra 10 minutes but there were some people who were not back to the bus. Pick up and drop off from hotel Vittoria was uncomplicated. 10/10 recommend for doing Pompeii in the morning and exiting through the Piazza Esedra gate and then taking this tour in the afternoon.

Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed this trip. It was well organised, left on time and the driver was great. We got 2 hours to walk to the crater and back which was plenty of time. We even had time for a quick beer at the top! The walk itself is self guided but there is an app which gives you points of interest along the way. Just make sure you scan for the free WiFi before you go through the gates! The path up to the top is steep but good and wide. Wear sensible shoes and an extra layer to what youve been wearing at sea level as it can get a bit chilly.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included cost?
+
Prices start at $52 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included take?
+
Plan for about 3.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 3.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does From Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius: Bus, Audio Guide, Ticket Included start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
