A beautiful day discovering a different side of Romania
This was a really great experience and honestly one of those days we will remember for a long time. Everything started smoothly with the pick-up directly from our accommodation in Bucharest, which we really appreciated. It made the morning easy and relaxed, without having to worry about logistics. During the drive, our guide told us a lot about Bucharest and Romania in general, mixing history with small stories and curiosities. It never felt like a lesson, just a pleasant conversation that made the time pass quickly. We also stopped briefly for coffee and water, a small detail but very welcome. The first main stop was the Slănic salt mine. It is an impressive place and much bigger than we expected. As soon as you enter, you really feel the scale of it. Even if you visit just one salt mine in your life, this one is absolutely worth it. The atmosphere down there is quite unique and hard to describe. We then stopped for lunch at a very nice restaurant that had vegetarian options as well, which was important for us. It was a good break in the middle of the day and fit perfectly into the schedule. In the afternoon we reached the mud volcanoes, which were probably the most surprising part of the tour. The landscape feels almost unreal and very peaceful. We arrived at a great time of day, with beautiful light. As photographers, we really noticed this and spent some time taking photos. It was one of those moments where everything slows down and you can just enjoy being there. The drive back to Bucharest was calm and quiet. It was already dark and after such a full day it was nice to just relax while being driven back to our accommodation. Overall, the tour was well organized, well paced and thoughtfully planned. Interesting places, good explanations and a very smooth experience from start to finish. Definitely recommended! :)
Response from the operator: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind words! We’re truly happy that the tour left you with such beautiful memories and that everything went just as you hoped. We really appreciate the photos you added — they clearly show your passion and the special moments you captured throughout the day. Your feedback means a lot to us. Thank you, and we’d be delighted to welcome you again for another experience!

Highly recommended
We have contracted Octavia services for the salt mine and mud volcanoes. I recommend hiring this guide service for several reasons, among the most relevant, would highlight the proximity and good humor of Octavia, the knowledge it has of the place and the information it provides you about monuments, culture, customs, history and about the areas to visit. The guide knows when to approach and when to keep his distance, without weighing his presence. The price is very good for the experience you have given us. The guide has taken care of everything, so we just worry about enjoying the moment. It has also taken us to a restaurant with traditional Romanian food with great variety of dishes and very good prices. We've eaten like kings. In short, we do not imagine the trip and the experience better. So I recommend hiring such a service.

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.
How much does From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.
Is From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does From Bucharest: Private Tour to Snagov, Salt Mine & Mud Volcanoes start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bucharest?
+
On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bucharest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bucharest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
