    Excellent trip

The Belfast Bay sunset cruise on the vintage lobster boat was great. The boat only held 6 people and the crew of 2. Jen told us about her family’s lobster business which was very interesting. We stopped by the lobster pound for a look around and a lobster roll which was delish! Jen told us about the biology of the bay which was so interesting. She has a degree in marine biology and is a teacher so her sharing with us was so natural.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Vicki! This is exactly what we love about our small-group sunset cruises—the boat may be small, but the stories are anything but! 😊 Jen brings such a wonderful mix of firsthand Maine lobstering history, marine biology and natural storytelling to the experience. Add a delicious lobster roll and an evening cruising Belfast Bay, and it sounds like Maine treated you well! Thanks for coming aboard. 🦞🌅

    Three Hour Tour

I booked the 3hr. Sunset cruise on the Back & Forth to celebrate or 45th Anniversary our Capt. Tap and guide Max were great people to talk to and a wealth of knowledge. The itinerary as to where we went was left up to me so with Taps recommendation we stopped off at Youngs restaurant Tap took care of the ordering and Max gave us the history of the restaurant we got on the boat with our meals and set out on an ocean like glass, Max made a comment to the fact that you hardly ever see the water this calm, it was perfect for our sunset cruise and I couldn't recommend this enough for you and better half or family and friends you won't be disappointed. Dennis & Kim H.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Dennis and Kim—and happy 45th anniversary! What a wonderful way to celebrate. We’re thrilled Captain Tap and Max helped make the evening feel so personal, from shaping the route with you to picking up dinner at Young’s and sharing the history along the way. And that glass-calm water? You really did catch Belfast Bay on one of its magical nights. We’re honored The Back & Forth could be part of such a special milestone, and we hope the memories of that sunset cruise stay with you both for many years to come. — The Back & Forth Crew

While the captain is nice, the experience is not worth the $140/person.

The captain was nice. The experience was memorable due to the other 2 couples. There was not much narrative of the bay provided and, what little was given was difficult to hear due to his quiet voice and loud engine.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the company of your fellow guests and found your captain welcoming. One of the things we love most about our small-group sunset cruises in Belfast, Maine is the opportunity for guests to connect and share a memorable evening together. We're sorry to hear that the narration and storytelling did not meet your expectations. Sharing the history, wildlife, and stories of Belfast Bay is an important part of the experience we strive to provide, and we appreciate your comments regarding audibility. Traditional wooden Maine lobster boats do come with a bit of engine noise, but your feedback helps us identify areas where we can improve the experience for future guests. Thank you again for joining us and for your honest comments. We appreciate your perspective and wish you all the best in your future travels. — The Back & Forth Crew

    Sailing into the Sunset

What a wonderful evening on the water with Captain Tap and Della. The lobster from Young's Lobster Pound was delicious. The highlight though was the cruise itself. Captain Tap and Della were so accommodating! Della was especially warm, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the water, Belfast and all things Maine. She was a delight and we feel we had made a new friend at the end of our evening.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Sandy! We're delighted you enjoyed your sunset cruise on Belfast Bay and that fresh lobster from Young's Lobster Pound helped make the evening even more memorable. There's something truly special about watching the sun set over the coast of Maine with good company and great food. We'll be sure to pass your kind words along to Captain Tap and Della. They both love sharing the beauty and stories of Belfast, Maine, and we're especially pleased to hear that Della's warmth, knowledge, and hospitality made such a lasting impression. One of the greatest compliments we can receive is when guests leave feeling like they've made a new friend. Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to welcome you back aboard The Back & Forth for another unforgettable sunset cruise in Belfast, Maine. — The Back & Forth Crew

Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Camden.

How much does Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise cost?

    +

Prices start at $140 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Camden usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Camden is not rushed.

Is Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Camden, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Camden can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Camden and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Experience Belfast with Sunset and Cruise start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Camden within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Camden?

    +

Camden, ME packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Camden by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Camden experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Windjammer Classic Sunset Sail from Camden, Maine, Windjammer Classic Day Sail from Camden, Maine, Day Sails and Sunset tours on Schooner Surprise in Camden Maine. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Camden?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Camden, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Camden?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
