    Great Trek to Gokyo

We had a fantastic trip to Gokyo. Really loved our guide. He managed everything for us. From airport pickup till leaving back home. We were assisted by a porter who took some of our gear for us. We learned a lot about local culture while trekking. We extended the tour while trekking and included the Renjo La Pass. Our guide was totally flexible. We really appreciated that. In September it was quite cloudy. Above 4000m we couldn't see a lot. Oktober should be more stable good weather but also cold. We enjoyed having enough spaces at the accommodations due to the pre season. We were told Oktober and spring can be crowded.

Response from the operator: Namaste marchM6511DR, We are delighted to hear that you had a fantastic journey and enjoyed exploring the Everest region. We are especially happy to hear your kind words about our guide. Taking care of the arrangements from airport pickup through to your departure, while also sharing insights into local culture along the trail, is an important part of the service we want our guests to experience. We are glad you felt well supported throughout the trip. It was also great that you decided to extend your journey and add the Renjo La Pass while trekking. We are pleased that our team could remain flexible and adjust the itinerary according to your plans. September can bring cloudy and changing conditions in the Everest region, particularly at higher elevations, so we are sorry that the views above 4,000 meters were limited during your trek. At the same time, we are glad you enjoyed the quieter trails and had more space at the accommodations during the pre-season. Thank you again for trusting Trekking Planner Nepal and for sharing such useful observations about your experience. We hope to welcome you back to Nepal for another Himalayan adventure, perhaps with clearer mountain views next time! Should you or anyone you know plan another Himalayan adventure, feel free to reach out via email at info@nepaltrekkingplanner.com or WhatsApp at +9779851071767. Best regards from Trekking Planner Nepal.

Challenging but made easier by having a guide and porter. We are in our sixties.

Prior to our trip Dipak was quick to respond to our emails and answered all tour questions satisfactorily. Dipak provided an itinerary that suited our needs and being older trekkers we really needed acclimatisation days built in to our journey to reduce altitude issues. Airport transfers were provided on arrival and departure, also help with a helicopter transfer to Lukla when the weather was bad and we couldn’t fly with the booked plane Our guide and porter met us in Lukla. Our Nepalese guide spoke good English, he was very patient, he carried my pack when I struggled up Renjo La pass, Hi key phrase was “ bistarai bistarai” slowly.

Response from the operator: Namaste robhambrook63, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re delighted to hear that Dipak was able to answer your questions, tailor the itinerary to your needs, and include appropriate acclimatization days for your trek. For higher-altitude journeys, allowing the body enough time to adjust is especially important, and we’re glad the itinerary helped you approach the challenging sections at a comfortable pace. We’re also happy that our team could assist with your transfer to Lukla when bad weather disrupted the scheduled flight. We know that unexpected changes can be stressful, so our goal is always to help our guests navigate these situations as smoothly as possible. Your kind words about your guide mean a lot to us. His patience, English communication, and willingness to help when you were struggling on Renjo La reflect the care we expect from our mountain guides. And yes, “bistarai bistarai”, slowly, steadily, is often the right approach in the Himalayas! Review of our Gokyo and Everest Base Camp, April 2026

I successfully completed the EBC trek in April 2026 with a group of eight friends. The trekking company provided excellent support and service throughout the journey, helping make our mission a success. They arranged lodging at tea houses, our hotel in Kathmandu, all helicopter and airplane flights, and porters to carry our duffel bags. They also optimized our itinerary so we could complete the trek in just 12 days. Our assistant guide, Sujan, went above and beyond during the climb to EBC. Since I was the slowest hiker in the group, he consistently stayed with me, guiding me along the trail and offering helpful advice on maintaining balance on difficult terrain, managing altitude sickness, and identifying the famous mountains along the route. Sujan truly made my trip memorable. Special thanks as well to all our porters, who worked tirelessly to ensure our bags arrived on time at every tea house where we stayed overnight.

Response from the operator: Namaste ganeshkZ9681UF, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience with us. Congratulations on successfully completing your Gokyo and Everest Base Camp trek with your group of eight! We’re delighted to know that the organization and support provided throughout the journey helped make your 12-day adventure a success. From accommodation and transportation to flights and porter arrangements, our goal is to take care of the logistics so our guests can focus on enjoying the incredible experience of trekking in the Himalayas. We’re especially grateful for your kind words about Sujan. Staying alongside a guest and providing encouragement, guidance on challenging terrain, and support with altitude is an important part of being a good assistant guide. We’re very happy to know that his patience and support made your journey more comfortable and memorable, and we’ll certainly share your appreciation with him. A big thank you as well to our porters, whose hard work often happens quietly behind the scenes. Their dedication to getting everyone’s belongings safely to the tea houses each day is an essential part of every successful trek. Thank you once again for trusting Nepal Trekking Planner with such a special journey. We’re thrilled that you and your friends had a successful experience. Should you or anyone you know plan another Himalayan adventure, feel free to reach out via email at info@nepaltrekkingplanner.com or WhatsApp at +9779851071767. Our guide FT: an outstanding guide and best human!

FT, who is a guide at Trekking Planner, was exceptional —truly embodying everything you could hope for in a trekking leader. His knowledge of the mountains, local culture, and trails was outstanding, and he shared it generously throughout the journey, making the experience both enriching, memorable, and just incredible fun. We laughed our way up passes, joyous and grateful for the beauty of the Everest region, looking at vistas you can't believe exist because they are just otherworldly in their beauty. What stood out most was how safe and well cared for he made us feel at all times. FT was constantly attentive, quietly ensuring we were comfortable, acclimatizing well, and enjoying the trek. His calm confidence and professionalism gave us complete peace of mind, even in challenging conditions. He knows the best places to stay, is flexible and listens to what you want, and in his own gentle way ensures you have the trip of your dreams. Seriously. Beyond his skills as a guide, FT is simply a wonderful human being. Kind, thoughtful, and genuinely warm, he went above and beyond in so many small ways. FT will be a friend and brother for life. I am so grateful I crossed paths with this special person. I wish him all the best - I am sure he will continue to rise as a guide due to his latent talent and good vibes. I couldn’t recommend FT more highly—he made the entire experience unforgettable.

Your words about FT truly mean a lot to us, and we’re incredibly happy to know that he made your journey through the Everest region so special. It’s wonderful to hear that FT’s knowledge of the mountains, trails, and local culture added so much to your experience. But more than that, we’re especially grateful that you felt safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for throughout the trek. That quiet attentiveness and calm confidence are qualities we deeply value in our guides. We also love hearing about all the laughter, good times, and unforgettable moments you shared along the way. The Himalayas are extraordinary on their own, but having the right person beside you can make the experience even more meaningful. Your words about FT as a person will undoubtedly mean the most to him. To hear that a guest considers him a friend and brother for life is an incredibly special compliment. We’ll make sure he receives your message and best wishes. Thank you once again for trusting Nepal Trekking Planner and for sharing such a meaningful part of your journey with us. Best guide and trekking planner - Gokyo Lake and Renjo La

This is the second time I’ve used Trekking Planner and specifically, a Sherpa guide called FT (Furtenji) - and that says it all, doesn’t it!! My daughter and I planned to have Gokyo Lake as our destination but owing to our fitness included Renjo La pass for the descent. A great achievement for a 71 year old. Firstly Dipak is quietly working away in the Trekking Planner office in Thamel, connecting people, sorting out changes of schedule, being flexible to any changing needs. He always managed to find a flight to Lukla for us and when flights were grounded, pulled massive strings to get us on to our respective helicopters. It is really a good organisation to depend on. Equally, if not more importantly, was FT, a guide who will be your friend and companion through the long trek. He really is a top notch guide who knows every path and peak, bird and animal. He takes special care of you by being mindful of your capabilities, always being aware of how you’re feeling. FT tailor- made our ascents to minimise altitude sickness, by determining how fast to walk and when to stop for rests and when to do the extra acclimatisation treks. He remained flexible to our changing itinerary and always gave us good advice. He also encouraged a positive attitude and always made me feel capable of doing difficult things. He is very kind and caring, not only to his clients but also to the porter. During our trek we learned from him about Sherpa culture. He introduced us to a family that made us Sherpa potato pancakes and Sherpa tea. FT went that extra mile for us and I thoroughly recommend him because he really is the best guide to ask for!

Response from the operator: Namaste Viv C, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience with us and for choosing Trekking Planner for a second Himalayan adventure with FT. Your achievement of completing the Gokyo Lake trek with Renjo La at 71 is truly something to be proud of, and we’re honored that our team could be part of it. We’re especially grateful for your kind words about Mr Dipak and the work that often happens behind the scenes. From coordinating flights and helicopters to adapting schedules and responding to unexpected changes, his goal is always to make sure our guests can focus on enjoying their journey with confidence. And thank you for such wonderful words about FT. We know how much he values creating a genuine connection with the people he guides, while carefully adapting the pace, acclimatization, and itinerary to each guest’s abilities. It’s wonderful to hear that he helped you feel capable of taking on difficult challenges while also sharing his knowledge of Sherpa culture and local life. The potato pancakes and Sherpa tea sound like a particularly memorable part of the journey! Thank you again for your continued trust in Trekking Planner and for recommending FT so warmly. We hope this won’t be your last Himalayan adventure with us! Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days cost?

    +

Prices start at $1,399 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days take?

    +

Plan for about 288 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 288-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days?

    +

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 288-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Everest Gokyo Valley Trek - 12 days start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kathmandu Sightseeing | UNESCO World Heritage sites Private/Group, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek: Private Group & Discounte Price. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
