    Know before you go

    • Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
    • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
    • Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
    • Travelers should have a high level of physical fitness
    • Best Season for the Everest Base Camp Trek : The best seasons for the Everest Base Camp Trek are from September to December and from March to May. These months are known for sunny and warm weather and outstanding views. The summer months from June to August are also beautiful, but the trek can be affected by the monsoon rains.
    • EBC is a Tea Houses/Lodge Trek : Accommodation is included in the cost of your package. Annapurna Foothills Treks takes great care to arrange the most comfortable accommodation possible throughout your stay.During the trek, the nights will be spent in clean and comfortable tea houses with plenty of character and good food. The simple rooms usually have two narrow beds. The family run lodges are a great place to get to know the Nepalese people. In Nepalese culture, a guest is equal to ‘god’, and surely this has become even more of a reality since the tourism industry has improved their meager opportunities to earn. You will be made very welcome
    • Meals on the EBC Trek :Three meals a day are included during your Everest Base Camp Trek. The menu will be fairly simple, but freshly cooked and hygienic. You can enjoy typical Nepali, Tibetan and Sherpa food, as well as all types of international cuisine. Dinners and breakfasts will be provided in the teahouse/lodge where you spend the night. Lunches will be eaten in a teashop on the way to the destination of the day.
    • Local Customs You Should Know About on Classic Everest Base Camp Trek : Ethnic groups of the hilly and mountain regions are predominantly Buddhist, and you will see many mani stones, stupas, gumbas and prayer wheels. It is respectful to pass these objects with your right side nearest to the object, in a clockwise direction. Avoid sitting or standing on mani stones, stupas, tables used for worship or anything that is a religious symbol, as that is considered disrespectful.
    • Flight Delay/Cancellation : Domestic flights to mountain regions can be delayed or cancelled due to bad weather. Be aware that you may have long waits in the airports. From our side, if a flight is cancelled we make sure you get on the next possible flight. If flight cancellations at the start of your trek delay your trek to the point of disturbing your onward travel schedule, you will be free to choose an alternative trip; there are many excellent options in the Annapurna, Langtang and other regions. If you do not wish to take an alternative trek, and wait in Kathmandu for the flight to Lukla, your original trek may be shortened due to the days lost in waiting. In such case, the client will be responsible to bear all additional expenses including food and accommodation. If the client wishes to make an alternative arrangement such as a helicopter flight, Annapurna Foothills Treks and Expeditions will assist in making the booking, but will not cover the cost of the alternative arrangement. The refunded money of the unused flight ticket would be credited to the concerned client, however. There will be no refund for the days of the trek that are missed. You will not be entitled to any refund for services in the package (ie hotel, transport, flight) that you did not use due to the cancellation. It is advisable to allow one or two extra days at the end of your trip to allow for flight delay/cancellation. In an emergency, or upon request by our clients, a heli-rescue can be organized. The helicopter costs around USD 3500, and can lift 4-5 persons per flight. If flight cancellations at the end of your trek delay your return to Kathmandu, you will be responsible for all your expenses during the wait in Lukla.
    • Drinking Water on Everest Base Camp Trek : We suggest that you drink boiled water or bring chlorine tablets to purify the normal water available in the guest houses along the way. There is a small fee charged for the boiled water. Although mineral water is available in most places, there is no provision to dispose of the plastic bottles, so we encourage the guests to do what they can to protect the environment.
    • Fitness/Health on the EBC Trek : If you have a reasonable level of fitness, this trek should be more than manageable. The altitude becomes more noticeable the higher we go, so we walk at a slow pace and take plenty of breaks to rest and acclimatize.
    • Travel Insurance for Everest Base Camp Trek : Annapurna Foothills Treks strongly recommends you have sufficient insurance coverage to you go into this remote area.Travel insurance that covers emergency evacuation, injury, lost baggage, liability, medical treatment is recommended. The insurance must cover all the activities that you will be undertaking during your stay in Nepal. Annapurna Foothills Treks and Expeditions Pvt. Ltd. can organize the appropriate medical response based on your policy.

Wonderful trip to EBC with a professional agency and guide!

This trip was a highlight in my mountain adventures. The staff in Kathmandu (Tenzin) picked me up from the airport and after a solid briefing, diner Tenzin made it possible to arrange a helicopterflight to Lukla as flights were canceled. I couldn't have arranged it without her! Ngima and Tsering picked me up in Lukla and we had a great trek in an amazing mountain setting with great guesthouses at the and of the day. Later on I was accompanied by Mingmar. He was very professional and has great knowledge of the local culture, wildlife and offered great help when I suffered mountain high altitude sickness. He's an Everest and Makalu summiteer and very professional, speaks fluent English and is also fun to be with in the mountains! Last day I stayed in his guesthouse in Lukla and back in Kathmandu (Mingmar helped me through the hazzle at the Lukla airport..) Ngima picked me up for an interesting citytrip to Bakthapur and Kthmandu. This was my second trip with Mingma and his team and I would never choose another company!

Response from the operator: Dear Marcel, Namaste and Warm Greetings, It was a joy to welcome you again after so long. Thank you very much for writing kind words for our company. It really means a lot. We are really pleased about it. We are happy that your Everest Base Camp Trek was a wonderful experience of nature, culture and spiritual. It is always our objectvie to provide a memorable expereinces to our guests. Tenzing, Mingmar, and Ngima says thier greetings. Best Wishes, Annapurna Foothills Family

Great experience, wonderful time thanks to Annapurna Foothills Treks & Expedition' staff and guides!

After arriving in Kathmandu I was welcomed by Ngima's wife Tenzin and brought to a great hotel in Thamel. The next day we scheduled the trip which was planned to go to Lobuche Peak. We had a nice Nepali dinner and the next day Tenzin arranged a flight by helicopter to Lukla as airplanes couldn't land in Lukla. Without Tenzin I surely would have problems arranging this myself. In Lukla Ngima and Tsering, the porter were waiting for me and we started the trek. Ngima and Tsering were great company and later the guide, Mingmar, took over. He was fun to be with during the trek. He knew a lot about wildlife, culture and arranged all the guesthouses, which were all great and had good food. In Lobuche I got ill, Mingmar recognized I had severe high altitude problems and he took me to the hospital. We changed plans and climbing Lobuche wasn't possible. We went down along some detours which were great in views, wildlife and remote. Afterwards, Ngima picked me up from the airport and arranged a city tour which was very interesting. I can absolutely reccomend Annapurna Foothills Treks & Expedition as they are very professional and can absolutely deal with changes (flights, routes etc) which are difficult to overcome without a Nepali agency. I had a great time thanks to Ngima and his team and will certainly come back!

Great experience with Annapurna Foothills Trek at Everest 3 Passes Trekking

This was the second time I went in trekking with Annapurna Foothills Trek and again their services were excellent . We went at EBC through the 3 passes trek and the logistics and the organization went perfectly. Apart from this, what really differenciates Annapurna Foothills from other companies is their carefull care for the customer , in every aspect of the trek. I can give my personal testimony. When I got sick, Ngima organized a prompt a prompt return by helicopter and assisted me also in the hospital. I was ok, nothing serious fortunatly, but I really appreciate their support and care. Thanks again, I hope to have other opportunities to come in Nepal with Annapurna Foothills.

    Everest Bas Camp

My two daughters and I had an awesome trip to Nepal to trek to Everest Base Camp. We selected Annapurna Foothills Expedition for our EBC Trek for two reasons 1) Local Company from Nepal, 2) Recommendation from co-worker who had previously used company. All my email communications to Ngima Sherpa in planning the trip were always answered in a timely manner. When we arrived in Nepal, Ngima was there to greet us at airport as per the itinerary. All the details of our EBC Trek from start to finish were taken care of in a professional manor. He even arranged (on short notice) a guide and ride for a city tour upon our return to Kathmandu from EBC. Our trekking guide (Jangmu) for EBC was amazing. My daughter's were super excited to have a female guide as we only have had men in the past (Kilimanjaro/Salkantay trek). Jangmu took care of our every need. She kept us at an appropriate trekking pace to help minimize altitude issues on the trek (we never felt rushed). She shared her first hand knowledge of the mountain region, answering our many questions. Our two porters were friendly and always had a smile on their face. I'm so happy we used Annapurna Foothills Expedition Ltd to fulfil a life long dream/goal of visiting Nepal and hiking in the Himalaya's .

Response from the operator: Dear Jamie, Namaste and Warm Greetings from Kathmandu, Thank you very much for taking your valuable time to write this beautiful review for our local company. We are extremely pleased to read your feedback about your dream Everest Base Camp Trekking in Nepal. It really means a lot. It is always our objectvie to provide a memorable expereinces to our guests. We hope other trekkers and climbers will find this review insightful. Jangmu says her greetings as well. Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days cost?

    +

Prices start at $1,900 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days take?

    +

Plan for about 288 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 288-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 288-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Everest Base Camp Trekking - 12 Days start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kathmandu Sightseeing | UNESCO World Heritage sites Private/Group, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek: Private Group & Discounte Price. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
