An unforgettable, must-do experience!
We had an amazing day! Our tour guide, David Burns, was excellent!! He was prompt, kept us updated as to timing and was very knowledgable. He went out of his way to ensure that we had the best experience possible. He provided so much insight and stories to make the trip even more memorable. On the way back to our hotel, he even showed us a few extra sights that made us feel truly special. Looking forward to coming back to London and looking David up! Would highly recommend this tour.

A five star experience!
A FIVE STAR WXPERIENCE! David was the quintessential guide to Duxford! He provided pick up and transfer service from Heathrow airport to our London hotel as a most welcomed addition to his services as a guide. He picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel before and after our trip to Duxford. As a special treat as American tourists, he coordinated a special dinner reservation at the Mayflower restaurant where the pilgrims began their fateful sailing to the new world. Before returning us to our hotel he drove us by the famous sights of London to cap off our Bucket List visit to London and Duxford to experience the WWII support of American air forces. We look forward to using David's tour guide experience for future travel to England!

Great tour of Duxford and the RAF museums
Dave was a great guide. He was prompt on my pickup at the hotel, and did all of the driving, which is very helpful in the London traffic. He's very personable, pointed out where I could find the aircraft I was interested in, and spoke with the museum staff while I looked at the planes to find out what planes were flying when that day. I happened to see three Spitfires fly and land at Duxford, including two that took off in tandem. I also saw the TSR-2 and Vulcan, which are great to see in person and not just in pictures.

Duxford IWM
WOW! What a great day. David picked us up from our hotel and drove us to Duxford IWM in great comfort. A brand new car and so big and comfy. Water bottles were provided for our comfort and the trip was smooth and easy - we weren't the ones driving in London traffic! An absolutely wonderful day, David knew as much about Duxford as any on the IWM volunteers and managed to surprise us with some Spitfire take offs and landings, which does not always happen each day. The enthusiasm and genuine interest of David was matched by my husband as each plane had it's own story. The end of the day had it's own special time too as we went to a 'secret' place David knew off where we had a wonderful dinner overlooking the Thames. The day could not have been more special.

Exceptional Tour
David did an exceptional job taking us around Duxford and sharing his knowledge with us. There were 4 adults and all of us enjoyed the experience (plane enthusiasts and accompanying family members). We also had a family member that needed to rest periodically and David really looked after him. David also arranged dinner for us in a very old tavern. We will look for other tours with David next time we are in London.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the review. It's so great to know that you all enjoyed Duxford and old London. Wishing you all the best with your onward travels and look forward to seeing you back if London again.

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.
How much does Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup cost?
+
Prices start at $5 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.
Is Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Duxford IWM Airfield WW2 Private Car Trip London Hotel Pickup start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in London?
+
London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit London?
+
May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in London?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
