Excellent Guided Buggy tour
Jorge Rodriguez was our tour guide, and he did an amazing job! We reserved a last minute tour. We did not include snorkeling since we have a 3 y.o son and he is still intimidated by the ocean. However, we utilized the 2 hr of beach time just the same. Jorge was knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the area, and more importantly he was personable! Excellent experience. 100% recommend his tour!

Fun in Cozumel
Carlos was our tour guide and he did an amazing job at accommodating us. We had to schedule the tour at a different time bc we arrived late on our cruise ship. We had our own personal tour guide! He took us to so many places! Lunch was also great!

Left high and dry!
We feel we were scammed. We paid our deposit by credit card at the beginning of February $167.99 USD for 4 people, that was half our price for tour. We were told to arrive at 10:15 am for departure from the church in downtown Cozumel as we were coming in by ferry from Playa del Carmen. We waited until 11:00, no one showed up. A nice gal at the pharmacy let us use her wifi so we could Whataspp, and she even tried calling the number for us, but no one picked up the 4 times we tried to contact. Our date of the tour was February 22, 2025. We rented a buggy from a local place and drove straight to the Cruise ship pier to look for Cozumel Fun Excursions rep as a nice local told us maybe we could find someone there, his name was Cecil, he confirmed that our eticket was indeed with them for the morning tour and he said that the boss must have forgotten to let anyone know. He was nice and offered that we join a later tour from there, but we had already paid for our rental car at that point. He called the business owner and of course I couldn’t comprehend their conversation as it was in Spanish. Cecil said we would be refunded, but I’m not certain of that yet as it takes a few days for the transaction to go through by credit card. I’ve tried to contact the company by email a few times and by Whatspp while back at the condo with wifi service, since yesterday and have had no success/response. Our tour included food/lunch, water and the entrance to Punta Sur. Punta Sur only takes pesos 440 per person and there were 4 of us, plus paying for our own lunches pretty much wiped us out of pesos we took for the day because we thought we would only have to bring tip and money for alcoholic drinks at lunch. Very poor service by this company. I would have thought that they would at least reach out to explain the mix up!
Response from the operator: Hello Sharon, As per our email including your full refund notification and an explanation of what happened; I've apologized to you for missing your booking. I had a medical emergency in the Family which totally turned everything upside down a few days. Once again, that's no excuse and I'm very sorry for had ruined your day. As stated in the email the full refunds has been already issued and you will have the funds in your account in between 5-10 business days. Hopefully we'll have the opportunity of making it up to you in the future. Sincerely yours, Moises Loeza

Terrible rental
Rented a dune buggy to tour ourselves. Sketchiest place ever. Buggy was rusted and old. They don’t tell you it’s a standard. Thankfully we both know how to drive a stick shift. Seatbelts didn’t work. Told to fill up with gas b/c they don’t know how much previous customer used. Don’t know?! Because odometer and gas gauges don’t work. Were told there was a separate road for buggy’s. Nope. You’re on the road with all other vehicles!! Crappy buggy holding up traffic that wants to go 80 km. DON’T GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY MORE MONEY.
Response from the operator: Hello Diane, Our Dune Buggys are custom made vehicles based on the platform of the classic VW Beetle. They run perfectly, but indeed they are stick shift, they are not new; nor built to be on the road driven over 80 km/h. All the characteristics of our Buggys are explained in detail to our Guests at the time of the rental and most of them are thrilled to live the romantic adventure of driving a "rustic" open vehicle on the roads of a Caribbean island, because those are not high speed roads. I'm very sorry to learn that your rental experience wasn't up to your expectations, but if you were not happy at the moment of the rental, we would have gladly either changed the Buggy for another type of vehicle or cancelled your contract refunding the money. As none of the above mentioned were addressed to us, your rental proceeded accordingly. Respectfully yours, Moises Loeza

The tour was as described.
So. we booked this excursion through Norwegian, I gave 3 out of five due to the fact the tour group is a bit disorganized. I agree with most of the reviews, dune buggies are a little older, all are a standard transmission, and all leak oil or gas through out the day. With that being said. We met this group as soon as you arrive at the pier entry gate. I was hoping to drive the Dune buggy, the buggies must have four people per vehicle, so we were paired up with another two person party. The gentleman from the other party really really really, wanted to drive, so I let him. We headed out to the western end of the Island to the snorkeling area, THE WATER WAS AWESOME, so clear so beautiful. A little chopping, so those who are first time snorkelers needed to stay out. My wife hit the beach loungers and got some sun, I went into the water with dive camera and filmed some sea life. So fun, But very short, maybe 45 minutes at this location. Back in the buggies we hit the road and we headed to the north west side of Island. WOW, the water was even more clear. I compared it to my swimming pool, just beautiful. This is where the tour provided a buffet style lunch of local cuisine. Everything was so fresh and delicious. YUM. We spent about an hour an a half here at this locations, after lunch we went across the street and spent time on the beach. All in all, this was fun, but if I had an other option, I may have just rented a scooter or taken a cab to this areas and spent the day.

Why this scores 47
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.
How much does Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 5.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.
Is Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 5.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Dune Buggy Tour and Snorkeling at Punta Sur Including Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cozumel?
+
On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cozumel?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cozumel?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
