    Good tour.

Joel and David were our tour guides, both did good but Joel did specially great as I had two people not to skilled for the ocean/snorkeling, he was patient and helpful. They did not arrive on time, we started almost an hour later. Good overall.

    This was an awesome experience!

I was a little apprehensive because there weren't a lot of reviews. They called beforehand to make sure we knew were to show up and the boat was of good quality with shade for the people that didn´t want to get in the ocean. They were very attentive and catered to us, adjusting locations and duration at each site to our needs. We always had a guide who came into the water with us when we were snorkeling. Our guide was awesome! He took pictures for us and found marine animals hat we otherwise would have missed. We felt very safe with them during our trip. Wish I had photos to share but I still haven't downloaded them from my GoPro.

    Non-existent boat.

When we arrived at the designated marina to begin our private snorkelling tour, we could not find any sign of our tour company - Cozumel Tours Excursions. I asked a lady who worked for other such companies for directions. She was happy to help and asked for the name of our boat. We checked our booking; we had no boat name. She asked for the company name; she had not heard of it. We were now worried that we had been scammed. She asked for a phone number for the company, we found it and she called it and had a long chat with the man on the other end in Spanish. She then handed me her phone. The man said that he was at a different boarding point - somewhere called Monkey Beach and told me that we should get a taxi to him. We had already taken 2 taxis and a ferry to get to the agreed rendezvous at Caleta Marina. I was not happy. Then he explained that we would also have to share our boat. We had paid a premium price for sole use. We would not have gone on a group booking at any price as my wife burns easily and we wanted the flexibility of curtailing the tour, if necessary. I told him this was not acceptable and he asked to be handed back to the kind lady whose phone we were still using. She agreed to take over our booking and, in 30 minutes organised for a new boat, a skipper, and a snorkel guide, together with cold beers, wonderful Ceviche and fabulous tropical fruit. Annoyingly, I did not get her name or her company, as I would gladly recommend that trip. So my advice, ensure you get a boat name more than 24 hours before the trip, if not, you should cancel for a full refund. Interestingly, when we arrived on Cozumel by ferry, there were dozens of hawkers trying to sell snorkel tours. If you can’t get an online booking, you could always try one of them. It can’t be much worse than our experience!

So much better than a tour!

Manuel and Enrique were excellent! They zoomed us past the crowds to perfect snorkel spots. We swam along the reef and saw a ton of fish, rays, and star fish. If you really love snorkeling, this is for you.

El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.

How much does El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion cost?

    +

Prices start at $750 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.

Is El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does El Cielo and Snorkel Private Excursion start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cozumel?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cozumel?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cozumel?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
