România on the map was a very good choice.

We had an excellent experience with Daniel as our guide and driver. Pick up from our hotel was on time, then our day out in his car was very comfortable. Daniel was able to tell us all about România and Transylvania and answer all our questions. We ended up being the first through Peles Castle in the morning ahead of a large tour group. It was made even more special as he was able to accompany us. I wouldn’t recommend Bran Castle as it was so busy and not much to see compared to the fabulous Peles. The countryside was beautiful and varied and lunch at Braşov very pleasant. We got away early in the morning so didn’t experience the road traffic which many reviewers mentioned.

Response from the operator: Dear Robyn, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was a real pleasure spending the day with you both and sharing some of Romania's history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. I'm delighted you enjoyed Peles Castle, the time in Brașov, and that our early start helped us stay ahead of both the crowds and the traffic. Thank you as well for sharing your honest thoughts about Bran Castle. Every visitor has a different perspective, and I appreciate you taking the time to share yours. It was a pleasure meeting you, and I hope to welcome you back to Romania one day! Best wishes, Daniel Romania On The Map

    Fantastic day outside of Bucharest

I am so happy I got to spend the day seeing the sites outside of Bucharest with Daniel. He was incredibly knowledgeable and planned the perfect day for us. I can’t believe how much we got done in 12 hours! Peles castle was amazing and a great contrast to Bran which was also very interesting. If you ignore all the Dracula references which did not interest me, Bran has an incredible history and story. Brasov was also beautiful and very different than Bucharest. It was definitely worth spending the day outside of Bucharest to see this very different side of Romania!! Thank you Daniel.

Response from the operator: Dear Ashley, Thank you so much for your kind review! I’m delighted you enjoyed exploring Peleș Castle, Bran, and Brașov, and that you got to experience a different side of Romania. It was a pleasure spending the day with you, and I hope to welcome you back again in the future! Kind regards, Daniel

An unforgettable experience -- would not change a thing !

This was one of the best tours I have ever taken in my life. Daniel has such knowledge and passion for his country and shares it with his clients in a way that is very easy. I learned so much but it never felt laborious. He also gave me a half day tour of Bucharest--equally fascinating. But we discussed the best options for a day tour and he came up with an itinerary that began at Bran, then went to Brasov (which was so much more beautiful than I expected), and ended with a tour of Peles. The rest of the day was spent viewing the beautiful country of Romania.

Response from the operator: Dear William, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for your kind words. It was truly a pleasure spending time with you and showing you some of the places that make Romania so special to me. I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed both the Transylvania tour and our time together in Bucharest. Creating an itinerary that matched your interests and gave you a memorable experience was my pleasure. I’m especially happy that Brasov exceeded your expectations and that you appreciated not only Bran Castle and Peles, but also the landscapes and atmosphere of the Romanian countryside. Sharing the history, culture, and beauty of my country with guests like you is the part of this work I enjoy most. Thank you again for choosing me as your guide. I hope Romania will remain a beautiful memory for you, and perhaps one day I’ll have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another adventure. Warm regards, Daniel

A fabulous day exploring Romania 🇷🇴

It’s our first visit to Romania and we’ve just finished spending the day with Daniel! What an experience. From start to finish, he’s been absolutely faultless. From his initial contact to the day of the tour - exceptional. We started the day by him collecting us at the Hotel. First on the list was visiting Peles Castle which we can highly recommend. Daniel gave us a in depth guided tour which we both thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot more than we would have without him as our guide. We would definitely recommend purchasing an extra ticket so he can guide you around this ornate and beautiful palace. We then proceeded to Bran Castle, which is known as Dracula’s castle. Unfortunately external guides are not allowed in the castle, but Daniel gave us an idea of what to expect before hand. As we had some time left in the afternoon, Daniel recommended we should go to Brasov which again, would highly recommend. Daniel did mention that he does a tour that enables you to stay the night here and would probably do this next time as it’s such a lovely city with so much more to see than what we were able to fit in. He recommended a restaurant in the square and we visited the Black Church too. He then drove us back to Bucharest in his immaculate car. We wouldn’t hesitate in booking with him again! Thanks again Daniel!

Response from the operator: Dear Tomos, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It truly means a lot to me. I’m really glad you enjoyed Peleș Castle, Brașov, and the overall experience, and I appreciate your kind words about the guiding and the day together. It was a real pleasure showing you around, and I’d be delighted to welcome you back for another tour—maybe with an overnight stay in Brașov next time 😊 All the best and thank you again! Daniel

Private day tour with Romania on the Map

We were so lucky finding our private tour with ‘Romania On The Map’. Our guide, Daniel, picked us up promptly at our hotel and brought us to the Dracula & Peles Castles, as well as some shopping time in Brasov. Daniel was an excellent guide and very informative. When we arrived to Peles Castle, Daniel was able to come inside with us and explained the Royal background. Having a private guide was so much better than being on a bus all day with 40 other people! Do yourself a favor and hire Romania on the Map for your guide!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor as well. I truly appreciate it. It was a pleasure having you on the tour, and I’m really glad you enjoyed the day. Wishing you many more great travels ahead, and hopefully we’ll meet again in Romania someday! Warm regards, Daniel

Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $249 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Dracula Castle, Peles and Transylvania, Premium Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
