Amarante
From your hotel in Porto, you’re picked up in the morning for the drive to Amarante. We will stop at the city of Amarante to visit its old bridge and São Gonçalo Church, a symbol of the local identity built in the XIII century by the city's patron saint São Gonçalo, a benedictine monk. Amarante's sweets and cakes are extremely famous and you will have the opportunity to taste them at a well known cake-shop.

Vila Real
After Amarante we will proceed to the Mateus Palace in the city of Vila Real. Mateus Palace, set in beautiful gardens on a vast farm, is considered to be one of the finest examples of baroque civil architecture in Portugal. You will learn from a certified guide the story of the palace and at the end enjoy walking and taking pictures in the gardens.

Favaios
The highlight of the voyage is the lunch in the wine region of Favaios. Before lunch an aperitif is served in the gardens of the estate.The all-included lunch includes several tasting starters (alheira, pataniscas, rojões), Sopa de Pedra (Stone Soup) in iron pot, a veal stew or roast, and a fruit and dessert buffet.White and red Douro wines are served, as welll as Muscat wine of Favaios and Port wine. After lunch you will visit the estate wine cellars.

Pinhao
The tour continues driving downhill from the Favaios region to Pinhão, on the right bank of the Douro river. In Pinhão you will visit the train station with its fantastic azulejos (tiles) pannels from early XX century and take the one-hour Douro river cruise in a typical Rabelo boat to contemplate the world heritage beauty of the Douro Valley vineyards. Navigation upstream toward the Romaneira estate, in a very beautiful stretch of the Douro river where you will see some wine producing farmhouses, terraces until the river and vineyards, forming a unique landscape considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will return to Porto via the road N222 Pinhão - Peso da Régua, that is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. 17 miles, 93 soft bends and breathtaking views of the Douro Valley. An unforgettable experience
Our Douro Valley tour with Pedro was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences of our trip to Portugal. From the moment we met him, it was clear that he genuinely cared about ensuring everyone had an amazing day. Pedro went above and beyond in every way. Before the tour even began, he asked about dietary restrictions to make sure everyone was accommodated. Throughout the day, he shared an incredible wealth of knowledge about the history of Porto, the Douro Valley, and the centuries-old tradition of winemaking. He explained not only the history of the region but also the passion, craftsmanship, and hard work that go into producing every bottle of wine. His storytelling made the history come alive and gave us a much deeper appreciation for everything we experienced. What impressed us most was how engaging he was with our entire family. Traveling with an 8-year-old and a 13-year-old on a 12-hour tour could have been challenging, but Pedro kept both of our children entertained, involved, and interested from beginning to end. He has a remarkable ability to connect with people of all ages, making the experience enjoyable for both adults and children alike. Pedro also made sure we left with wonderful memories by taking beautiful family photos throughout the day. Instead of worrying about getting everyone in the picture, we were able to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery while he captured those special moments for us. Every part of the tour—from the spectacular landscapes and wineries to the river cruise and incredible food—was outstanding. But what truly made this experience exceptional was Pedro. His warmth, professionalism, enthusiasm, and genuine love for his country and its history were evident throughout the entire day. Fantastic day tour to the Douro with Pedro . It was the highlight of our visit to Porto . It was a full day of touring , nothing was too much trouble . At all times he went above and beyond . Would definitely recommend . By the end felt as if we had become friends .

Amazing tour of Douro Valley with Pedro!
Our family of 5 (kids 11,13,15) had a wonderful day with Pedro. We felt completely immersed in the culture of the Douro Valley. Pedro was prompt, professional and very friendly. His knowledge of the area and familiarity at each stop was exceptional. He engaged the adults and kids alike. We highly recommend Pedro if visiting the Porto or Douro Valley area.

Great day in the valley
What a fabulous day! Pedro was so passionate and informative about Portugal in general, and Porto specifically. We learnt so much about the history, culture and importance of the wine industry and loved the way he tied it all together with his "stories". The food and wine were very much enjoyed. Pedro was a very good driver 💯 and went above and beyond to help us with everything. Absolutely recommend. Thanks heaps Dean, Libby and Gail
