Please don’t waste your precious time and money

Absolutely terrible boat trip and completely overcrowded. They apparently allow up to 200 people on the boat, which is ridiculous when there simply isn’t enough seating or space for that many people. There are seats at the top, but they are all taken almost immediately because there are nowhere near enough seats for the number of people they allow onboard. You’re left standing or crammed in with everyone else, with very little room to move. All three of my children were extremely sick during the trip, and honestly, I’m not surprised considering how overcrowded and uncomfortable it was. The stop at Masca was ridiculous too. You don’t actually get to get off and enjoy the beach or explore anything. Instead, everyone is basically queuing up to jump into the water for about 10 minutes before it’s time to get back on. With so many people in the water at once, it was incredibly stressful trying to keep an eye on the children. It didn’t feel relaxing or enjoyable at all. And the food… just WOW. Possibly some of the most inedible, awful food I’ve ever been served. Surely it wouldn’t be difficult to offer something simple that people will actually eat, like sandwiches or chicken nuggets and chips. The sangria was genuinely the only thing that got me through the trip! 😂 Overall, we are €300 down and have also lost an entire day of our holiday that could have been spent relaxing by the pool or sunbathing. We booked this thinking it would be a lovely family day out and an opportunity to see the coastline and Masca, but instead it was overcrowded, stressful and disappointing. For a family of four or five, I would seriously think twice before spending this kind of money. Far too many people are packed onto the boat for the amount of space available. Definitely not the relaxing family boat trip we were expecting.

The Royal Delfín operates in strict accordance with all legal maritime capacity and safety regulations. The vessel has 222 seated places, while we voluntarily limit our excursions to a maximum of 200 passengers to provide additional space and comfort. There are also additional non-numbered seating areas available. Perception of how busy a vessel feels is naturally subjective, particularly during the high summer season. The upper deck is not a premium or separately priced area, nor do we guarantee seating on a particular deck. The main deck is an integral part of the Royal Delfín and offers seating, large panoramic windows, exterior areas and access to our exclusive underwater viewing area. Passengers are also free to move around the vessel during the excursion. We are genuinely sorry that your children suffered from seasickness. Unfortunately, this can occur when sailing on the Atlantic Ocean and is unrelated to the number of passengers on board. Regarding Masca, the excursion is not advertised as disembarking at Masca beach or exploring it on land. The advertised swimming stop takes place directly from the vessel and lasts considerably longer than the approximately 10 minutes stated in this review. Regarding the meal, we appreciate that food preferences are subjective and that our menu was clearly not to your taste. The meal is a complimentary part of a whale and dolphin watching excursion rather than a restaurant experience. You booked this excursion directly with Tenerife Dolphin, where the vessel, itinerary, swimming stop, services and price were available to review before completing the purchase. Finally, following the excursion, we communicated with you extensively regarding your complaint. After your refund request was declined, you subsequently proposed that we provide a **50% refund in exchange for removing three negative reviews you had published**. We declined this proposal, as we do not provide financial compensation in exchange for reviews being removed or changed. Would not recommend for family unless you like crowds and dont get motion sick

July 2026 we was recommended this family friendly tour. Failed to tell us we had an 1.5 bus ride to collect others. Boat was jammed packed. No point seeing bottom deck as hot and nothing to see. Just waves.Food was rice, meetball and gravy and a roll. No other option. Especially for kids or veggies. 1 option for all. You could pay €4.50 for hotdog for kids or €5.50 for pizza which we ended up doing for the kids. Id avoid this if you was motion sick. Its choppy as hell.We see pilot wales which was great and although there was dolphins too, couldnt see them as boat was soo packed couldnt see. Wish the rep had given us a better understanding of what to expect as we would never have booked.

Great value for money and well organised

Very well organised. Views of the island as you sail along. The sea was calm but unfortunately I was sea sick but staff offer plenty of fruit and drinks included in the price. The swimming part was a real experience beside the gigantic mountain side. The Atlantic is cold though! We saw flying fish, whales and dolphins which came quite close to the boat. The hot food served as a meal was really nice and plentiful. A fantastic trip for four hours. Real value for money.

Great way to see whales

After reading the reviews I wasn't quite sure what to expect but we had a fantastic time, all the crew/staff were great and we had very close views of dolphins and pilot whales. We booked a tour that included being picked up at our hotel by coach which made the day very easy, the trip to the port did take about 2 hours but there was a comfort stop and there are toilets on board the boat. The sea was reasonably calm and although I'm a poor sailor I didn't have any seasickness - I think it helps that the boat is medium sized but if you are worried or the sea is rough perhaps take some seasickness remedy with you. The boat was quite full but it wasn't a problem and it didn't feel crowded. Initially we sailed to a quiet location to allow for swimming and lunch. I didn't swim but those who did said it was great and the water was warm. I thought the lunch was good given the number of people on board and the limited facilities - as other people have said it was meatballs, rice and salad and there were lovely Canarian bananas for dessert. I'm not a fan of meatballs but the salad and rice were delicious and with a roll and the banana you didn't need anything else. Soft drinks, beer and sangria were all available and included in the price and you could buy additional hot drinks and snacks, although after the lunch I didn't want anything else. An unexpected bonus for me was to go past the Gigantes, it was a fabulous view of them and the coast in this region and the lady doing the narration told you a lot about the Canary Islands on the way. Finally we were able to see two separate pods of Pilot Whales, the second pod came very close, and Bottle Nosed dolphins - this was a fabulous experience and the crew gave you plenty of time to watch them - the trip never felt rushed at all. I would really recommend this, I think it is well worth the cost to see the whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. Throughout the trip the staff/crew were all very helpful and friendly and really helped to make it a great experience. One tip, it is colder on the open deck at the top of the boat so do take a jumper - towards the end of the trip the wind was making it quite chilly.

Amazing trip

What a brilliant trip. Coach to the boat was lovely and the driver was helpful. The boat was clean, welcoming and the staff were all friendly. We had a great experience. My two daughters 6 and 3 were doted on by the staff on board they made it such a lovely experience. We left the harbour then stopped for the swim in the ocean, the lunch was also brought out which was meatballs in a sauce similar to ikea, rice with veg, coleslaw and fruit. The drinks were also included. We bought ice creams and momentos which were reasonably priced. Then we went in search of dolphins which were beautiful it was so lovely seeing them jumping out of the water and following the boat. I did get seasick but the staff looked after me so well.
