What you get
About this experience
On this self-guided walking tour through Denver, Colorado’s vibrant capital, you’ll journey through its historic downtown area and explore the architecture, culture, and little-known facts that define the city’s urban center. Have you ever wondered why the Colorado State Capitol has a golden dome? Or wanted to stand on the exact spot that’s a mile high from sea level? Or wished to know why Denver’s most famous resident, Molly Brown, was called “unsinkable”? The tour starts at the Greek Amphitheatre in Civic Centre Park, where you’ll spot two hidden murals by renowned artist Allen Tupper True, The Prospector and The Trapper, showcasing Denver’s gold panners and trappers. As you pass two statues – On the War Trail and Buster Bronco – which symbolize Colorado’s Native American heritage and cowboy culture, I’ll tell you about sculptor Alexander Phimister Proctor, a Colorado native who gained international acclaim.

Fun and informative tour of Denver's cultural center.
We really enjoyed the tour. It was informative, interesting and fun. The tour moved along nicely being about an hour in length. The walking directions were very clear and easy to understand. We loved it. We will look for more self guided walking tours in the future.

We could never do this...
We could never do this tour. I downloaded all the necessary apps, used code, went to starting point and all it said was turn left. Very upset to pay for this awful app. I even tried to contact organizer, needless to say no help!
Response from the operator: Hi there, I'm sorry that you were unhappy with your experience. Can you email more information to support@voicemap.me? This way, we can identify exactly what went wrong and process a refund if there was a technical issue. I'm sorry for your frustrating experience. Regards, Helene

Self guided tour! Fine.
Great tour, nice to do yourself and hear information. Too bad we couldn't see the whole route right away. Walking in reverse was a bit more difficult, but also doable. Super value for money

Great tour!
I live in Denver and drive by the capitol nearly every day. I often see walking tours, and wanted to take my own, but on my own time. This tour ticked all the boxes. Not only did I get to experience the capitol and some of its history, but I had the best walk around the neighborhood, hearing the stories behind some of the most stately buildings and institutions in Colorado. Highly recommend!

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Denver.
How much does Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond cost?
+
Prices start at $9 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Denver usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Denver is not rushed.
Is Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Denver, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Denver can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Denver and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Denver's Heart A Self Guided Tour of the State Capitol and Beyond start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Denver within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Denver?
+
Denver is a launch pad. Rocky Mountain National Park, Pikes Peak, Red Rocks and the Georgetown rail loop all run as day trips, and altitude makes the timing of your first hike matter. In town: brewery crawls, Union Station food walks and Red Rocks show nights. We rank mountain operators on van size, pace and whether they build in altitude acclimatisation. On Outty we rank every Denver experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Downtown Denver Food Tour, Twilight Ghost Tour, Small Group Tour of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods from Denver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Denver?
+
June to September for open mountain passes, or December to March for ski shuttles. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Denver?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
