    Trying something new!

So much fun and so many scents to choose from. A little over an hour and we had each made a candle with beautiful results. The staff are helpful and gave us tips and tricks along the way. If you’re looking for something different to do and only have a couple of hours to spare, this would definitely be a great choice.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to review our experience, and for your comments! We hope to host you again in the future... or we can always try and replicate your fragrance blend and send you new candles throughout the year! Cheers.

    The Best Thing In Ketchikan

This was an incredible experience. It's a small business that they have lovingly created, and it shows in everything they do. The shop was spotless and adorable. Everything from the ceiling paper to the local handmade art and gifts that are available gives off the best kind of vibe. She teaches you not just how to scent match, but which kinds of scents might overpower one another. There are literally carts full of these different scents you can try when you're looking for what you want. She has them grouped by category, and it was extremely easy to find the one's I like most. The most difficult part was having so many options that I couldn't decide! Naturally, this meant I needed to make more than one. Not only did I learn some very cool information about Ketchikan ane candle making, but I ended up with one of a kind stickers, a pair of the most incredible hand-dyed fur earrings, and an enamel pin. I even liked a single scent so much that while I was creating my candles the shop owner was able to hand make me one in just that scent for purchase. I was able to measure out the ingredients, mix them together and pour them myself! They're located so closely to Creek Street that I was able to leave them to set while I went shopping and came back when they were set. The best kind of souvenirs are both useful and come with a good story. Every time I light one of these I will remember the joy of creating something myself, the attentive and kind way the owner treated me, and the beautiful town of Ketchikan. This was the best experience I've done on this trip, and it was ao affordable. I know the next time I visit, I will definitely take the opportunity to take the class again.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to review our experience, and for all of your details! This is extremely helpful as we're just getting started. Please let us know if we can send more custom candles your way throughout the year!

    Custom candle making

We had a great experience making our candles. After smelling many scents, it was fun to narrow it down to 3 that were put together to make a custom candle. Nice “souvenir “ to bring home from Alaska to Texas.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to review our experience! When you're ready for another bit of Alaska, just let us know. We're happy to ship year round.

If I could give this zero...

If I could give this zero stars I would. We showed up at the place for our 11 am reservation 40 minutes early. The business was not open and no employee ever showed up. We called the shop multiple times and no one answered. We ended up calling Viator customer service at 1115 and canceled the reservation.

Response from the operator: Stephanie - Unfortunately we had no record in our system of your booking and did not schedule anyone to work that day. We've had several operator friends experience something similar and apparently there was a glitch with Viator early season. We hope your day in Ketchikan got better and you enjoyed our little community despite this frustration.

    Design your own scent

We had a wonderful time smelling and combining scents to make our own unique candle but we all used salted honey butter scent in our candles.

Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ketchikan.

How much does Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop cost?

    +

Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ketchikan usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ketchikan is not rushed.

Is Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ketchikan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ketchikan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ketchikan and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Custom Candle and Scent Blending Workshop start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ketchikan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ketchikan?

    +

Ketchikan runs short, cruise-timed excursions: Misty Fjords floatplane flights, Tongass rainforest zip lines, totem park tours, crab feasts and wildlife boats up the Behm Canal. On Outty we rank every Ketchikan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ketchikan Kayak Eco-Tour, Off the Beaten Path Ketchikan Photo Safari - 3 hr., Ketchikan Shore Excursion: Rainforest Canopy Ropes and Zipline Adventure Park. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ketchikan?

    +

May to September, matching the Alaska cruise season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ketchikan?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
