About this experience

Most tours of the Cotswolds follow a rigid, crowded loop that barely scratches the surface of the region's 6,000-year history. Our 10-hour private car disposal breaks the mold by offering a bespoke, "slow travel" experience that balances iconic beauty with silent, medieval mystery. Total Itinerary Freedom: Unlike coach tours, you don't watch the clock. If you fall in love with the ruins of Minster Lovell or want an extra hour exploring the bridges of Bourton-on-the-Water, your driver is entirely at your disposal. Access to the "Hidden" Cotswolds: It take you beyond the main roads to places like Little Barrington and Greystones Farm—locations often inaccessible to larger vehicles and missed by standard GPS routes.

What you'll see and do

  1. Minster Lovell

Minster Lovell Hall & Dovecote: Wander through the 15th-century ruins of the manor built by William Lovell, once one of the richest men in England. The site features a stunning vaulted passageway and a circular Medieval Dovecote that originally housed 600 nesting holes. St Kenelm’s Church: Standing adjacent to the hall, this church houses the rare alabaster tomb of the Lovell family. Look for the "squints" in the architecture, designed to give medieval worshippers a clear view of the altar.

  2. Burford

St John the Baptist Church: Visit one of the top ten most-visited churches in the UK. It is famous for its "wool church" grandeur and its darker history as a prison for the Levellers in 1649. Look for the name "Anthony Sedley" carved into the lead font by a trapped mutineer.

    60 minutes here

  3. Little Barrington

St Peter’s Church: A hidden treasure featuring a 12th-century sculpted tympanum depicting Christ in Majesty and remarkably preserved Georgian wall paintings from 1736. The Fox at Barrington: Enjoy a riverside lunch at this 17th-century inn. It is the perfect spot to sample local ales while the River Windrush flows past the beer garden.

    90 minutes here

  4. Bourton-on-the-Water

Bourton-on-the-Water: Known as the "Venice of the Cotswolds," this iconic village is famous for its low arched stone bridges crossing the River Windrush. Your driver will drop you at the heart of the village, allowing you to stroll past the honey-colored stone cottages and explore the unique boutiques or the famous Model Village. Greystones Farm Nature Reserve: Just a short walk from the village center, step back 6,000 years at this working organic farm. Explore the replica Iron Age roundhouse and the ramparts of Salmonsbury Camp, an ancient "oppidum" or trading hub. In spring, the wildflower meadows are a highlight for nature lovers seeking a peaceful escape from the main village bustle.

Perfect Cotswold day trip with Dan!!

This tour was a perfect day trip to the Cotswolds for our friend group of six! The itinerary was just as advertised, and it was incredibly easy that Dan picked us up at our Airbnb. Perfectly on time, literally, from start to finish. We followed the recommended time in each village, and Dan was flexible if we needed., we could have had longer or varied a bit if we wished. It did not disappoint and was an even more enjoyable experience with such a fun and friendly driver like Dan. The beautiful green countryside and quintessential English villages are the ideal balance to the lovely busy-ness of London, the Cotswolds with Dan the Driver is not to be missed!!

Fantastic day out in the Cotswolds!

I recently booked a day trip out to the Cotswolds, and I’ve gotta say, the service was absolutely top-notch. Our driver, Dan the man with the big black van, was a total legend from start to finish. It wasn't just a lift; Dan was a proper guide for the day. He knew all the best spots, took us to some beautiful hidden gems, and really made the whole experience easy and fun. The van was spotless and super comfy, which made the drive through the countryside even better. If you’re looking for a stress-free day out with someone who really knows their stuff, I can’t recommend Dan and the team enough. Cheers for a cracking day, Dan!

Cotswolds Experience

We recently had a family trip to Cotswolds private tour with Windrush Valley and Minster Lovely. We had an awesome experience. Mr. Oreste Virgilius was our driver for the day. Mr. Virgilius was very friendly and polite. Cab was very clean and neat. He evev provided snacks n candies for our kids. Best part of our tour is he took us around most beautiful places and as the tour description states we actually covered few places where the coach tour would not take us because of size and traffic. All the places were really good with full of nature and all the villages architecture were so amazing and surprised to see they maintain them perfectly. We loved the mister lovell, the church, Bourton on the water. Mr. Virgilius didn't rush us in any of the places and we enjoyed on our own pace. Since we were travelling with small kids, It meant a lot to us. He suggested to spend as much as time we wanted and had no complaints about it Overall the tour has been perfect and Mr Oreste Virgilius made the trip most memorable and pleasant. Way 2 Go !!

Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.

How much does Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell cost?

+

Prices start at $510 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.

Is Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cotswolds Private Tour to Windrush Valley and Minster Lovell start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in London?

+

London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit London?

+

May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in London?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
