The perfect way to spend the afternoon!

Today we were lucky enough to be welcomed at Piumi and Susantha’s lovely property and enjoyed an amazing cooking class, which well exceeded all of our expectations! Both Piumi and Susantha were so kind and welcoming, and were very generous in giving us a thorough education of both the cooking and also Sri Lanka and different places to visit while we are here. The property was so clean and perfectly set up, the food was beautiful and fresh and the curries we made were absolutely delicious!!! I cannot wait to get home and make these dishes. Thank you for such a lovely experience that we will always remember fondly 😊🙏🏻 Kasun and Caitlin

    An authentic home cooking experience

A real home, a real family, a really amazing meal. I met the entire family as we shared preparation and cooking duties for 10 (TEN) curries! If you have taken cooking classes in professional kitchens or air conditioned restaurants, prepare yourself for a completely different experience! If i could give 10 stars out of 5 I would. Nothing I've eaten i. Sri Lanka (so far) has been better than what I learned in class. This is THE don't miss cooking experience.

Divine tasting - cook your own curries.

Just finished a fabulous authentic Srilankan cooking school in the home of Pimui. It was really easy to communicate via what's app for the booking and confirmation...this is a small family business guys...if you book - turn up, don't cancel, otherwise it may not be available for the next traveller to book! It was easy to access via Uber. The house and kitchen were immaculate, the foods freshly purchased that morning. Pimui has good English and a lovely kind and gentle manner - and wow, can she cook! The 10 curries plus rice were each sensational...the flavours you can savour with each bite. Not hot - but tasty spicy...and as I was in control of the cooking- I could make it as spicy as I wanted! I now have a new favourite eggplant curry - and I get to keep the recipe! Highly recommend this tour. Great value for money even as a solo...it is cheaper if more than one of you...I think 5 may be maximum.

It was a great experience to be able to participate alone!

Thank you, piumi teacher! It can be reached in about 30 minutes from the centre of Colombo. We were a little late because of the traffic, and we were a little lost, but they were willing to pick us up and take care of us. I was able to communicate in my unfamiliar English, He taught me carefully about spices and ingredients. They let me choose which ingredients to use to make curry, and I completed 10 different kinds of curry. It was a great experience for me, talking about spices and how to cook coconut. I visited by myself, but I felt comfortable and I really enjoyed her kitchen. I'm so glad I took part.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your great feedback for us. Appreciated. Hope to see you again

Cooking class in Srilanka: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Colombo.

How much does Cooking class in Srilanka cost?

    +

Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Colombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cooking class in Srilanka take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.

Is Cooking class in Srilanka worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cooking class in Srilanka?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cooking class in Srilanka suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cooking class in Srilanka?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cooking class in Srilanka start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Colombo?

    +

On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Colombo?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Colombo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
