Problems with car rental with Sicily by Car
Eye! DO NOT HIRE A CAR WITH SICILY BY CAR, I tell you what happened to some relatives who rent a car at PALERMO airport (before they had made premium insurance with Booking). On the first day they deliver it to you and leave 200 euros bail. On the last day, they have to return it at 15:00 hours at the airport and just that day at 9:30 hours in the morning, they call them from the company and tell them that they have stolen the car VERY CURIOUS because at that time my relatives had not yet gone out into the street and therefore had not found out that the car had been stolen (how did the company know that the car had been stolen? How does the company know that they are not the ones who have taken the car to go somewhere, since that day they could have it until 15:00 hours,?). They go to the police to file the complaint (very kind the policemen) and they inform them that the car has already appeared, they file the complaint where they record everything and go to the airport. When they arrive at the rental office of the vehicle, in addition to not wanting to return the deposit (the 200€ they left the first day) they try to retain 900 and a half euros in case the vehicle has been damaged, then they request to see the car since they had left it parked in perfect condition, and the company tells them that they cannot see it, because it is not there, due to nerves (they almost missed the return flight, they have not been able to use the car, they have had to spend more money to get to the airport) they have problems with the credit card when blocking it and seeing that they will miss the flight call the bank to Spain to issue another card, the company says that it has to be with the same card so eventually they cannot retain the 900 and a half euros and let them leave keeping the 200 euros deposit and telling them that they will contact them. Don't trust the good reviews, read all the bad reviews they have, save the report, ask to see the car and request a copy of the damage report and the closure of the incident. I plan to put this on all social media and every day, so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. However, it appears that this comment has been posted on the wrong listing. The situation described in your review relates to a car rental issue at Palermo Airport involving a company called “Sicily by Car” in Sicily, Italy. Our company does not provide car rental services, and none of our products operate in Italy. All of our tours and services listed on Viator are operated exclusively in Sri Lanka. Because the incident described took place in Sicily and involves a different company and type of service, It is not related to our Viator product in any way. As a result, this review is misleading for travelers who are looking for accurate information about experiences in Sri Lanka. For this reason, we kindly request that Viator review and remove this post from our listing, as it does not represent a genuine customer experience with our service. We also recommend that the reviewer share this feedback on the correct platform or directly with the car rental provider involved so that the matter can be properly addressed. Thank you for your understanding.

Completely Unexpected and Totally Delightful
When our cruise ship docked in Colombo, we had no plans made on how we were going to explore this intriguing city but were hopeful there would be some type of Hop On/Off bus as with my husband's walking challenges and use of a mobility scooter it is generally the easiest option for us. However, at the time of our visit in March 2023 there was no Hop On/Off bus. Luckily for us there was the Explore Colombo by Car kiosk set up on the pier and the gentleman in charge was more than happy to arrange a car, driver, and guide to accompany just my husband and I in a lovely, clean, air-conditioned van that had the capacity to hold eight passengers. My husband negotiated a very reasonable price for our private 5-hour tour, the car, driver, and guide. The driver and guide both spoke excellent English and were very caring and helpful with getting my husband and his mobility scooter in and out of the van. They were extremely knowledgeable about the sites we visited and respectful of the different temples we visited. The care, respect, and patience they showed my husband with his mobility challenges was so appreciated and is a testament to the type of young men they are and the caliber of this company. Should we ever return to Colombo or Sri Lanka we would not hesitate to use this company again and really cannot recommend them highly enough.
Response from the operator: Thanks !

Why this scores 48
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Colombo.
How much does Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car cost?
+
Prices start at $240 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Colombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.
Is Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cruise Passengers with Physical Challenges Explore Colombo by Car start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Colombo?
+
On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Colombo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Colombo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
