The Machame route is our most popular and successful route leading to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Hikers sleep in tents which are carried up the mountain by porters. The Machame route is a very scenic and beautiful route, which can be completed in 6 days, however we strongly recommend hiking the route in 7 days, allowing for more time to acclimatise. The key to the success of the Machame route is its topography, allowing hikers to climb high and sleep low, helping towards better acclimatisation. There are however two drawbacks on this route:

Mr. Kilimanjaro via Machame Route and 1-Day Safari

An amazing trip up Mt. Kilimanjaro via the Machame route and a 1-day safari. My friend and I both successfully summited, and saw giraffes, lions, buffalo, elephants, zebras, cheetahs, and much more! The Enjoy Kili team made everything so easy, we would have been absolutely lost without them. The food on the mountain was incredible, the guides were all super helpful and knowledgeable, and the efficiency was amazing (I only had 9 days off work to do all of this and the travel days). Thank you Enjoy Kili!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your friend successfully reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro and enjoyed the Machame route adventure followed by a fantastic safari experience. It’s great to know that our team, guides, and chefs made your journey smooth, enjoyable, and memorable ,especially with such a tight schedule! Congratulations on conquering the Roof of Africa and witnessing Tanzania’s incredible wildlife. We truly appreciate you choosing Enjoy Kili, and we hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure soon!

“An all Life-changing exciting adventure with a fantastic professional team!”

My Hubby, John and I first climbed Kili in June 2015. We met a really awesome group of guys led by David who is the head guide. The team are really passionate about their jobs and love what they do making sure you enjoy every step of your journey. We loved the experience so much we went back in June 2018 with a group of friends to experience the Machame Route a 2nd time. The experience for us was even better than what we remembered the 1st time. Although the 2nd time was quite different to the first with heavy ice on the summit night. The porters as always were very friendly and welcoming, making sure they were always prepared and awaiting our arrival at each camp every day. Each day we were welcomed by singing, popcorn, biscuits, hot tea and coffee and of course the mandatory bowl of warm water to refresh ourselves. Each day had its own challenges but David and his team made each step a memorable one with the usual "Pole Pole" whenever we felt quite adventurous and wanted to motor ahead. The meals at lunch and dinner were spectacular and one would never know that they had been prepared on the mountain. Overall, it was a breathtaking and an awesome experience for us and especially to experience the climb again with good friends and a team from Enjoy Kili who you could rely on at all times. Their experience over more than 20 years really showed in the manner in which they shared their knowledge and skills. I would highly recommend David, Frazier and their team from ENJOY KILI.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.

How much does Climb Kilimanjaro 7 Days Machame Route cost?

    +

Prices start at $2,300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

Is Climb Kilimanjaro 7 Days Machame Route worth it?

    +

That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Moshi?

On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch, Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Half Day Tour, Kilimanjaro climb, Machame Route (7-day). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Moshi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Moshi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
