    About this experience

Our Moonlight & Starlight Canoe Tour is often regarded by both our guides and our guests as one of our best tours! As the sun sets behind the mighty Cascade Mountains, we will push out onto the water in our canoes. After some adventure and exploration, we will take a break to stargaze while enjoying a local craft beer or hot cocoa as well as a desert from a local bakery. After immersing ourselves in the peace and beauty of the night sky, we will begin our journey back to shore. During the adventure, our award winning naturalist guides will point out wildlife, impart age-old stories and myths mixed with astronomy, and also share the rich human and geologic history of Central Oregon! What makes this tour truly special is that we are typically the only people out on the water at night. Sitting peacefully on a perfectly still lake as the the stars shimmer above and reflect off the water - its a feeling that simply can't be understood through words on a screen.

    Just Lovely

Trip advisor didn't make it clear it was a physical business. Once there everything was great. Everything was taken care of. It was safe, definitely beginner friendly, life jackets provided.

Amazing Perseid’s Meteor Shower Canoe Excursion

Took a group of 5 managers for a team building Perseid’s meteor shower moonlit canoe excursion on Elk Lake. We have been coming to Bend now for 8 years as a group and are always looking for new experiences. This one did not disappoint. Isaac was our guide and this was one of the most incredible experiences we all have had. Isaac‘s exquisite storytelling made the trip one that we will remember for years to come. The knowledge he shared about the constellations and Greek mythology in between seeing the meteors kept us engaged the entire evening. Canoe experience level varied in our group and Isaac helped everyone feel comfortable and confident the entire time. Easy getting on and off the water and we didn’t even get our feet wet. Do plan to help pack canoes down to the water. We enjoyed the physical activity to justify the delicious cocoa and cookie break. Everyone in our group highly recommend this trip and hope that you are lucky enough to have Isaac as your guide.

    Cascade Lakes Night Tour

The Night Canoe tour was outstanding. A truly wonderful experience on Lake Hosmer with views of the stars , shooting stars, and the Milky Way. Our guide Laura was knowledgeable and a great host for our group.

    Great canoeing experience

We had a great tour with Shae on July 3rd evening. Canoeing on Elk Lake under a full sky of stars in a cool summer breeze was beautiful. We also witnessed amazing Northern Lights, an unusual sight in South Oregon.

Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bend.

How much does Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $160 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bend usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bend is not rushed.

Is Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Bend, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bend can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bend and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cascade Lakes Moonlight and Starlight Canoe Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bend within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bend?

    +

Bend, OR packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Bend by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Bend experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Electric Bike Tour of Bend & Deschutes River, 2 Hour High Cascades Scenic ATV Tour in Bend Oregon, Chocolate Tour Including Hot Chocolate and Samples. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bend?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Bend, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bend?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
