It was a nice relaxing...
It was a nice relaxing ride, with really beautiful views, and we absolutely loved our tour guide Vinny.

Giddy up on the Deschutes
A very nice ride alongside the Deschutes and through the pine forest. Vinnie (owner, guide) is outgoing, safety conscious, and focused on making sure all the riders are having a good time. The horses seem very well cared for.

Unforgettable experience of a lifetime
My son and I surprised my wife with a 2.5 hour trail ride along the Deschutes River for her birthday. It was a perfect day and such a wonderful experience! Sharyn and Vinnie were both so friendly and professional and the horses; Tye and Maverick were so sweet and beautiful. Sharyn's knowledge of the area made the experience even more memorable! My wife is still raving about how special and unforgettable the experience was! We are definately coming back! Thank you so much!

A bit of a wild ride
Beautiful horseback ride I would recommend but I had a horse that was not fed full breakfast so he was not too happy on my horseback ride so there was a lot more go and stop constantly with my horse good thing I was experience he did Gallup a lot but the guy did let me know in advance that he would do that and he was not as steady as the other horse on my ride as in keeping up I would recommend this tour the guide is very nice but I would have been happier with a horse that was not so wild Took pics and sent and end of tour so kind
Response from the operator: Hi Shayna we appreciate your view on your experience. We love that you ventured out on our ride along the Deschutes River. We want to assure you and all our clients that your horse was never at a gallop as that is a gate professional horses do at the races however your horse may have trotted for a few moments to catch up to its friends. Experiencing a trot for the first time can be exciting for some and for others feel like a strange experience. But you did amazing and smiled the whole time. We do assure all our clients that our horses are fully fed and well cared for as well as fully trained. To a beginner rider any movement of the horse can feel overwhelming however this is very subjective to the individual rider. For your level of experience you did amazing and we could see you really bonding and learning on your journey. Thanks for riding with us!

Delightful ride!
We had a beautiful ride! I appreciated that safety came first. We were outfitted with helmets and a Hit-Air vest (it's like an airbag for your chest in case of an accidental dismount) The horses, Ty and Maverick, were sure footed and easy going. The ride was all within the forest and along the river, no open meadows. We sometimes shared the trail with some walkers their dogs. Along with the geographic history of the river and lava flows, we were treated to river views that went from rapids to calm. If you love horses and nature, I highly recommend Wilderness Horse Adventures!

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Deschutes River Horse Ride: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bend.
How much does Deschutes River Horse Ride cost?
+
Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bend usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Deschutes River Horse Ride take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bend is not rushed.
Is Deschutes River Horse Ride worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bend, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Deschutes River Horse Ride?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Deschutes River Horse Ride suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Deschutes River Horse Ride?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bend can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bend and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Deschutes River Horse Ride start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bend within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bend?
+
Bend, OR packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Bend by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Bend experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Electric Bike Tour of Bend & Deschutes River, 2 Hour High Cascades Scenic ATV Tour in Bend Oregon, Chocolate Tour Including Hot Chocolate and Samples. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bend?
+
Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Bend, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bend?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
