    About this experience

Join us for a snow-filled adventure in the heart of the Deschutes National Forest! The cascade mountains that build Bend’s backdrop typically receive 400-600 inches of fluffy snow during the winter. With snowshoes on our feet, we will journey through an old-growth forest of hemlock and fir, splashing through powder and immersing ourselves in the winter wonderland of Central Oregon! During the adventure, your naturalist guide will highlight animal tracks we may come across, enliven you with stories of native history, and touch on the immense importance of a healthy snowpack to our local ecosystem. Snowshoeing is truly the best way to observe nature in the winter! Traveling on snowshoes, you will be able to get a glimpse of how the native wildlife in Central Oregon have adapted to the deep snow, perhaps stumbling upon the tracks of a fox or pine marten. We will also take a quick rest to enjoy hot cocoa amidst the snow & mountains. Our Snowshoe tours are great fun for the whole family!

    Great snowshoe tour with Kristen.

We did a guided snowshoe tour with Kristen and it was magical. We were lucky that it was snowing that day so we had fresh snow for our hike. Everything was perfectly organized and she was so knowledge on the area.

Soup and Shoe (Night-time Bonfire Dinner)

My wife and I attended the inaugural "Soup and Shoe" event, Jan 18,2025 ...and it was amazing! Loved every minute of this night-time snowshoe tour. The snowshoe walk was not challenging, and Kristen our tour guide added a few stops along the way to discuss the terrain, types of forests encountered, the night sky re constellations as well as local wildlife. After a 30min walk we arrived, with twinkling lights lining our pathway to an oasis in the snow. A conversation seating area carved out of snow with benches and a roaring bonfire to warm us. We were greeted by WL staff and were warmed up with hot chocolate (with or without vodka) We met Jackson who was our Chef (owner of Lucky Woodsman in Sisters) for the evening. He was awesome, during discussion you sensed he was so passionate about food and the outdoors. The 4 soups, homemade breads were incredible and plenty for everyone. Finished the eats with a with yummy grilled cheese sandwich. The entire event was wonderful and was topped off with the arrival of visits from two Rocky Mountain Red foxes about 5mins apart. First one was so curious (probably the food!) and got quite close... Highly recommend this Wanderlust trip and would do it again. Cheers - David and Jennifer

    Amazing SnowShoe Tour experience

I recently had the opportunity of a lifetime with Wanderlust Tours in Bend, Oregon, and they truly delivered on their promise of providing fun and unique outdoor adventures. From the start, our tour guides radiated joy and enthusiasm, making the experience both exciting and welcoming. Their deep knowledge extended beyond the excursions to the rich history and charm of Bend itself. Talk about beyond impressed! It was clear to see and hear the passion behind their love and joy of what they do and represent. The snowshoe tour was unforgettable—a journey through what felt like a scene from Narnia. The breathtaking landscapes and intentional focus on sustainability made the experience even more meaningful. Taking a break to enjoy hot cocoa and marshmallows while soaking in the beauty of nature was the perfect touch. This tour not only deepened my appreciation for nature but also inspired me to practice sustainability when I return home to South Carolina. It was truly a 10/10 experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bend! And yes, I will definitely be back, hopefully sooner than soon.
