    Happy camper

Really enjoyed this tour. Too bad we had an overcast day … but you get what you get. Still it was amazing to see and the views of the ocean en route were great. Kudos to our guide who had a bilingual group ( Fr/en). And well done to our driver on those hairpin turns and dealing with the traffic. . Hotel pick up and drop off great. Worth the trip just for the experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour despite the overcast weather. Sounion's beauty shines in every condition, and we’re glad the ocean views and overall experience still made the day memorable. We truly appreciate your kind words about our guide and driver—managing a bilingual group and those famous hairpin turns is no small feat, and they’ll be so happy to hear your compliments. We're also pleased that the hotel pick-up and drop-off added comfort to your experience. Thank you again for choosing us. We hope to welcome you back on a sunnier day for even more unforgettable views! MTM Customer Support

    Ruined Our Evening

They forgot to pick us up. Very irresponsible and unprofessional. We waited at the designated area in the hot sun for over an hour. Ruined the evening.

Excellent sunset on the last day of 2024

The drive to the cape return is 3 hours. Was good to see the sunset on a clear day and on the last day of 2024. The bus picks up people at designated spots and there are several stops on the way back. The guide was informative and would point out stuff to us which wasn't part of the tour. Great that it wasn't a very long tour.

    Place of the gods

You should bring enough time for the Temple of Poseidon as it is quite a large complex. The temple itself is perched high above the Mediterranean with a great all-round view. You can easily imagine how the ancient Greeks used to live here.Unfortunately, this impressive complex is already closed at sunset and you are promptly asked to leave by the staff. Below the bay there are some good seafood restaurants. The journey is also spectacular because you are mostly on the coast.

    Lovely introduction to Greece

We really enjoyed the timing of the sunset tour. The ruins are definitely highlighted with the sunset as a dramatic backdrop.

    Cape Sounio: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.

How much does Cape Sounio cost?

    +

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cape Sounio take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.

    Is Cape Sounio worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cape Sounio?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cape Sounio suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cape Sounio?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cape Sounio start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Athens?

    +

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
