What you'll see and do

  1. Cape Coast Castle

Our guide will first take you to visit the Cape Coast Castle. Cape Coast Castle was a trading post on the West African coast in the modern nation of Ghana. It stands only a few miles from another slave castle built by the Portuguese at Elmina in the late fifteenth century. Originally built by Sweden in the 1650s, Cape Coast Castle shifted into Danish, Dutch, and then English possession by the 1660s. In the castle’s early decades, trade revolved around gold, wood, and textiles before English merchants began to seek captive Africans in large numbers.

  2. Kakum National Park

We will visit the Kakum National Park. Tucked away in the Assin Attandanso Reserve is the Kakum National Park and Canopy Walkway that offers visitors spectacular scenery and a fascinating wildlife experience along with modern camping facilities. The park’s best-known feature is undoubtedly its 7 suspension bridges which form a 333-meter long canopy walkway, suspended up to 27 meters above the forest floor from trees that are over 300 years old.

Wonderful country, wonderful tour, wonderful guide.

Wonderful. Patrick was a great tourguide. I was the only one on the tour. He made me feel welcome and gave me insights into the country and the sights. I've been to Ghana several times, but never to these two places. Patrick did everything he possibly could to make me feel welcome. Even helped me bargain for purchases and going out of his way to make things comfortable, to slake my curiosity about what I was seeing, and to show me things that I would not otherwise have noticed. The road to Cape Coast is under construction, and it takes an extra hour these days to get there. Patrick made the time pass quickly--and negotiated the difficult temporary road with great expertise. He was a little late picking me up, and I was concerned that somehow he had the wrong address--because I myself gave the address a bit late. Not to worry. Not only did he arrive 10 minutes after my concern started (traffic...) but also the main office replied to my anxious email within three minutes--at 6:00 AM! Excellent service. Highly rccommended. . onderful. Patrick was a great tourguide. I was the only one on the tour. He made me feel welcome and gave me insights into the country and the sights. Emotional experience

Tour guide and tour company were great. Kakum Park require good physical conditioning as there is a steep climb up multiple steps. Canopy walk could be a challenge if one is afraid of heights. Cape Coast castle was very emotional for me a descendant of enslaved Africans.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words and trusting us to take you on tour.

Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Accra.

How much does Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $240 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Accra usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Accra is not rushed.

Is Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Accra, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Accra can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Accra and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cape Coast Castle and Kakum Park Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Accra within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Accra?

+

On Outty we rank every Accra experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle & Kakum National Park Day Tour, Experience the Beauty, History and the Culture Of Accra in a Day, Accra Guided City Tour Cultural and Historical Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Accra?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Accra?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
