Great Arrival Ride, But No-Show for Our Return to the Airport
Our family used this shuttle service for transportation from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen, and the experience on arrival was smooth and positive. Because of that, we also booked and prepaid for our return trip from Playa del Carmen to the Cancun airport. Unfortunately, the return experience was very different. We confirmed our pickup multiple times before the scheduled date, but on the day of our flight the shuttle never showed up, and our attempts to contact the company through the Viator app went unanswered. The only response we eventually received was approval of a refund. While we appreciated the refund, it would have been helpful to know ahead of time that we needed to arrange alternative transportation. In the end, we had to take a cab from Playa del Carmen to the Cancun airport, which cost the exact same amount as the shuttle service. Based on that experience, travelers may want to consider simply booking a reliable cab for the return trip to the airport.
Response from the operator: It seems you were the one who changed your accommodation location at the last minute, and my driver was waiting for you where your reservation indicated. Anyway, thank you very much for your comment.

Good review! (scared)
I was so scared to book this because of the reviews. This booking was made on the day i arrived, so it was completely last minute. I did attempt to reach out to the organization to confirm how ill be able to locate the driver upon arrival. no response via viator app or whatsapp. However!!!! once i arrived, i saw my name on a sign and the driver was extremely friendly and the cab was super spacious and clean with AC. all my anxiety instantly disappeared! The only thing i would suggest is the organization reach out just for the reassurance thank you for making this a smooth journey for my family and i. 4.5/5 (0.5 deducted for lack of communication)
Response from the operator: Thank you in advance for choosing us. Unfortunately, when it comes to last-minute bookings, it's very difficult for us to receive messages due to the terrible internet service at the airport.

Pick-up was 20 minutes late
I had a reservation for 3:15 but didn’t get picked up until 3:35. The other times I’ve booked a transfer well in advance, the driver is normally waiting.
Response from the operator: I apologize in advance for being late, but there was too much traffic, and when there's traffic, that's what happens.

AVOID! Terrible service.
DO NOT BOOK! Absolute scam of a company. Booked airport transfer from Cancun airport well in advance. Got the usual confirmation emails etc. via GetYourGuide. On arrival our driver was nowhere to be seen. No answer when trying to call on phone or messages to WhatsApp. About 20 minutes after I receive an email from GYG that the operator has cancelled. We were left scrambling for a ride to accomodation - very stressful. Not a single word from the operator themselves. Avoid at all costs if you want to have a good start to your holiday, the potential savings are not worth your while. Used Kalido Travel later in my travels and they’ve been excellent!
Response from the operator: I don't understand your message where you accuse us of being fraudulent, and then say your service was canceled. It's not very clear on your part. If your service was canceled, I assume you received a refund. ON THE OTHER HAND, if you have proof that we are a fraud, please send it to us so we can take legal action.

Communication from Viator
I had a very poor experience with this company’s shuttle service from Cancun to Playa del Carmen. The entire point of booking in advance was to make arrival easier, but it ended up being far more stressful than just grabbing a taxi. After landing, I was not given accurate or clear information on how to contact my driver. I reached out multiple times through the company’s online chat options and received no response at all. I waited in the taxi bay for over 30 minutes with no communication, no updates, and no support. Eventually, I had no choice but to secure another ride so I could actually get to my destination. Only after I had already arranged alternate transportation did the third-party shuttle company finally reach out via WhatsApp. At that point, I requested a refund due to the complete lack of service and communication, but my refund was denied and blamed on the third-party provider. The entire process felt like I was taken advantage of rather than helped. Instead of making an already tiring travel day easier, this service added unnecessary stress, confusion, and cost. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable airport transportation.
Response from the operator: I was reading your comments, and to begin with, I don't have you as a registered client. You say you couldn't contact us, but on the other hand, you say the agency refused to give you a refund. Usually, when someone doesn't arrive at their pickup time, we mark it as a no-show. Perhaps it was one of those cases, but if the agency didn't give you your refund, we have nothing to do with it.

Why this scores 37
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.
How much does Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen cost?
+
Prices start at $1300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen take?
+
Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.
Is Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 37 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cancun Airport Private Transfer to/from Playa del Carmen start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cancun?
+
On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cancun?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cancun?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
