Perfect timing for cable car ride and Mountain View

I was once again assigned Ramsaran Simkhada (Ram) as my guide which was great. Ram kept in touch with my via WhatsApp and we agreed to push back the start time as it started raining at our scheduling meeting time. This was perfect as the rain cleared out some of the clouds and opened up some incredible viewing of the western ranges of the Himalayas. Very thankful for Ram’s support. The cable car ride was amazing. Very smooth and quick ride to the top (more than 2,000 meters up) and Ram was very helpful in pointing out the ranges for me and other tourists who were nearby. Awesome guy. This trip is good for anyone who wants a relaxing afternoon or you can add some of the activities to enhance the journey (e.g. horseback riding, zipline or bicycle wire riding).

Response from the operator: Dear Cedric, Namaste!! Thank you so much for your kind feedback! We're delighted to hear that you had a wonderful experience with Ramsaran Simkhada (Ram) once again. It's great that he was able to coordinate with you so smoothly and adjust the timing to ensure the best views possible—what a perfect way to enjoy the Himalayas! We're also glad you enjoyed the cable car ride and that Ram’s knowledge and helpfulness added to the experience, not just for you but for other travelers as well. Your mention of the optional activities is much appreciated too. With Regards, The HSJ Team

Worth the money

Don't rely in this to get a view of the Himalayas. It's extremenly weather dependent. however it's still a fun day, there are activities at the top of the mountain that don't break the budget, and it's the freshest air you'll breathe the whole week if staying in Kathmandu. You can get there for under USD$10 with a rideshare app. it costs about USD$20 for an adult with a foreign passport. you don't need your passport to go up unless you are applying for a reduced rate on account of your age. NB

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Warm Greetings !! Thank you for sharing your experience! You’ve provided some very helpful information for future visitors. As you mentioned, the weather in the Himalayas can be unpredictable, so it’s great to manage expectations while still enjoying the activities and fresh air at the top. It’s good to know that it’s affordable and accessible, especially with the rideshare option. Your note about the passport requirement for reduced rates is also useful. We hope your recommendation helps others have a great time while visiting the area! Thank you again for your insights, and we appreciate your feedback. With Regards, The HSJ Team

Breathtaking & very convenient

Absolutely breathtaking experience. I was so lucky with the weather; it was so clear when I went. The tour makes it a no-fuss experience too. Anil, my ride, was so kind - lined up himself get me a ticket (an express lane one!). He patiently waited for me the whole time I went around the viewpoints at my own ease.

Response from the operator: Dear client, Namaste!! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience! We’re thrilled to hear that the weather was perfect during your visit and that the tour made your journey hassle-free. It's great to know that Anil provided exceptional service, ensuring your comfort and even arranging an express lane ticket for you. We truly appreciate your kind words and are so glad you had a memorable time. Your feedback will surely be helpful to others planning their own visit. With Regards, The HSJ Team

Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu cost?

+

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu?

+

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cable Car Ride at Chandragiri Hill with Hotel Pickup from Kathmandu start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

+

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
