Guided by a passionate hiker and photographer who has spent a lifetime in the Blue Mountains, this small-group day tour from Sydney goes where the tour buses don't. In a group of no more than 10, walk into the bush and find wild kangaroos grazing in Megalong Valley, then take real trails to lookouts most tours never reach. Want to push further on a longer, steeper stretch? You can. Want the shorter, easier path to the same view? You can do that too, and the group meets back up on the other side. Lunch is a proper Aussie pie with salad from Mountain High Pies, an award-winning Blue Mountains bakery, with around 20 varieties including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. As dusk falls at Echo Point, enjoy a twilight spread of Shiraz, Brie and Danish Blue cheese, crackers, hummus and Australian sweets while Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos dive off the escarpment to roost. Included, not an upsell. Roughly 10 hours door to door, this is a tour for those seeking some soft adventure in nature.

Best Tour Ever!
Craig was a wonderful guide and, as promised, took us to remote areas so we could enjoy the scenery without big crowds. There were only five of us total. My party of three had a great time.
Response from the operator: It was lovely having you and your group along, Patricia. With only five of us that day, we could keep things really relaxed and make the most of those quieter places. Thanks for choosing to explore the Blue Mountains with me!

Sydney trip highlight
This was the highlight of my one-week trip to Sydney! Craig took our small group to off-the-beaten paths where no other tourists go so we had the places to ourselves. He’s also a wealth of information as far as Australia’s history. Seeing kangaroos in the wild was pretty awesome and the wine and snacks at dusk were the perfect way to cap off the day. Highly recommended to adventure-seeking folks!
Response from the operator: Thank you Joyce. I’m so pleased the tour was such a memorable part of your week in Sydney. I really appreciate your kind words and wonderful recommendation!

Perfect trip for us
Craig knows this area so well, a fantastic guide. The perfect trip for us, nice group too mixed ages. It was great to see views from the path less trodden. I managed his most "challenging paths " and I'm no spring chicken. Fantastic pies for lunch, and I even had a choice of vegetarian options . There are options to buy anyt else cakes, snacks coffee juice at this cafe. Thrilled to see some wild kangaroo at the end of our tour, nice range of snacks and glass of wine , Ladies incase you wonder there are several decent loo options so very civilised.
Response from the operator: “No spring chicken” but you still conquered the challenging paths! 😄 I love it. Thanks for such a wonderfully detailed review — from the quiet trails and wild kangaroos right down to the all-important loo situation! Really glad the day suited you so well.

+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sydney?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
