So well thought out

This was so much fun, so well organised, the staff are excellent and the experience so holistic. The visit to the market was a beautiful opportunity to get to know the cooking assistants who shared how authentic the recipes and food we were creating was. They were experts because it’s what they cook at home. The chocolate mo mo was my favourite and it was satisfying to know that our money was helping to support worthy causes in Nepal.

Fun way to learn about food culture

Ended up being a private class, as no others had signed up. We were met at our hotel and walked over to the cooking school. This is a family run business. I think their market experience is merely a room in the location with local spices, cook books, aprons etc for sale. The spices are grown on a family farm. We had the choice of 3 menus to choose from and could make some substitutions or add other items that were available. We reviewed difference spices used in Nepali cooking before starting to cook. We helped to make 4 items. Thukpa soup, bars, momos, and carrot pudding. Also masala tea. We also made a spice paste to go with the bara and momos that was excellent. Can’t wait to get the recipes and hoping they will include their pakudo recipe. It was a fun time and we had enough to eat. Would highly recommend.

The trip of a lifetime

Shree and the team were excellent guides for my stay in Nepal, they were kind, funny, and shared their knowledge about the country. Whenever I needed something, they made it happen, and I am grateful to have had them lead my travels through this beautiful country. Thanks!

Feel like a local!

Amazing experience! 💕✨ Very friendly and experienced staff. They patiently guided us through choosing a menu and taught us the ins and outs of Nepalese food. 🇳🇵We started by going to the markets to purchase the needed ingredients and then cooking the delicious food. They were all amazing and the chocolate momos are a must 👌🏻. They also sent us the recipes via email so we don't forget how to cook them next time ☺️.

Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip cost?

+

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 26 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 11. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip?

+

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Best Nepali Cooking Class in Thamel with Local Market Trip start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

+

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
