    Great trip

A great tour. Loved our guide's (the owner) knowledge of the historical and current data about Targuinia, particularly as she is a Tarquinia resident. Also liked the flexibility to be able to take extra time here or there, and spend less time when desired.

    Be warned.. they don’t deliver!!!

Don’t be fooled. We had this booked for months and were corresponding 3 days prior to the tour.On the day we sat for 2 hours at the pick up point to then be told there was a mistake and the tour was now Tuscany. Ironic as we had been communicating in the days prior about Tarquinia!! So it was our last day in Europe as we had just disembarked from a cruise and it was our wedding anniversary. This day was our “special day”. We disembarked early to be on time at the right location. we even contacted the tour guide and had a number of texts about pick up times and where we were to ensure things ran smoothly. Then the time of the pick up elapsed and the communication changed. We were now told they were cancelling. It was now Tuscany!! So we had a whole 13 hours to wait at an airport… totally wrong, unprofessional and unacceptable. I’m sure this review will not appear! Ironically if we cancel there is a cost… what compensation does the customer get for totally ruining a very special day??? 1 star is too much.

    Absolutely Fantastic!

This tour was a great alternative to a Rome or Civitiveccia tour, particularly if you only have one day. We were picked up in Civitiveccia near the cruise terminal; the guide drove us to Targuinea, answering our many questions as we went. Our first stop was at the Necropolis, an amazing Etrusken burial site with tombs dating 500 - 400 BC, complete with original paintings. Our guided tour continued with a walk through the lovely hilltop town with its historic walls and incredible scenic overlooks. A delicious lunch followed with wine and dishes made from local ingredients. Come hungry! We then visited the archeological museum to see the valuable vases, jewelry and so on found in the ancient tombs. Finally, we were driven back to our port stop in Civitiveccia. What a wonderful and interesting small group tour. You will love this tour...highly recommend.

    Highly recommend

We spent a wonderful day with our tour guide, Andrea. He helped us explore this ancient Etruscan site that dates back before the Roman empire. We visited the Necropolis, museum, churches and other historic sites. We were taken to a ristorante near the town hall and treated to a delicious many courses lunch served with wine. This was not booked as a private tour, but we were fortunate to be the only couple to enjoy this day. We highly recommend this as an excursion from the port of Citivecchia.

Is Before the Romans: the Etruscan UNESCO site of Tarquinia from Civitavecchia worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lake Bracciano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lake Bracciano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lake Bracciano and add a light layer if any part of the 6.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Lake Bracciano?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lake Bracciano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Civitavecchia Shore Excursion: Best of Rome Private Tour, Food Tasty and History Tour in Civitavecchia, VIP Tour of Rome (3/5/8hrs) Colosseum & Vatican Museums. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lake Bracciano?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lake Bracciano?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
