    What you'll see and do

    1. Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau

First, we will take you to Auschwitz camp by walking through the gate of Auschwitz I, the first camp, initially established as a concentration camp for Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939. You'll pass under the infamous sign "Arbeit Macht Frei" (Work Makes You Free). This portion of the tour typically lasts two hours, during which you'll use a headset to hear your guide clearly. The group size is limited to 30 people, as per the Museum's regulations, ensuring a comfortable and accessible experience for all participants. Explore the original wooden barracks, fortified walls, barbed wire fences, gas chambers, and crematoria, which together leave a haunting impression and allow visitors to grasp the immense scale of the Holocaust.

90 minutes here · Admission included

    2. After Auschwitz camp, we will take you to the second, larger camp —Birkenau (Auschwitz II), located just 3 minutes away from Auschwitz. Birkenau, the largest camp, was built and operated with the sole purpose of making Europe "Judenrein" (free of Jews). Your guide will continue the powerful narrative at Birkenau, located in the village of Brzezinka. Constructed in 1941 under the orders of SS commander Heinrich Himmler, the camp could hold around 90,000 prisoners. You’ll hear harrowing accounts of the brutal living conditions, the cruel selection process, and the pseudo-scientific medical experiments carried out by Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele. The tour concludes with a story of liberation when soldiers from the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front opened the gates of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, leaving you with a profound understanding that such genocide should never have occurred—and must never happen again.

    Highly recommend

Booked directly through tour operator our hotel was changed but wasn't a problem for pick up. Early pick up but suitable as gave us the afternoon to go round krakow. The driver Krystian was brilliant from start to finish and kept us informed of how long etc

    Great Service

Bob (Peter) our driver was excellent. I stupidly didn’t realise there were two hotels with the same name in Krakow. I inadvertently sent the wrong address to the company but not to worry. Bob phoned and was at the right hotel in no time. He ran through the important ID procedures before we set off to Auschwitz and showed us a film on the way, which whilst very sad, gave us an idea of what the Soviets found there in 1945. When we arrived we were able to skip the long queues and Bob guided us through until we met our guide. After Auschwitz 1 he took us to the second site, Berkanau and after that swiftly back to our hotel avoiding roadworks. All in all we would thoroughly recommend Krakow Direct for tours and will be using them again for both more tours and transfers from the airport. Karol our driver from the airport was also excellent and very patient with our delayed flight on the previous Sunday night.

Great tour guide (Kris) and informative tour

Kris was great. His English was excellent and he had an in-depth knowledge of the history of Auschwitz and Birkenau. There was a lot to see at Auschwitz and at times due to the number of different tour groups all trying to see the same things it did feel a little rushed. This was not Kris’s fault but due to how busy the place was. Birkenau was quite in comparison only a few tours there and more time to feel the atmosphere of the place.

Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krakow.

How much does Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers cost?

    +

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krakow usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krakow is not rushed.

Is Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 413 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Krakow, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers?

    +

Around 145 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Auschwitz-Birkenau Live Guided Tour and Ticket with Transfers start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krakow within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Krakow?

    +

On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow to Auschwitz Birkenau Guided Tour with Transfer and Ticket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
