    2. Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau

Start your tour by walking through the gate to the first camp - Auschwitz I - originally conceived as a concentration camp, to be used as a detention centre for the many Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939, with the most recognizable sign Arbeit Macht Frei (Work Makes You Free). This part usually takes 2 hours and you will be using a headset to hear your guide clearly. The group according to the Museum’s rule counts up to 30 people making the visit comfortable and accessible for every participant. Visit the original wooden buildings, fortified walls, barbed wires, gas chambers and crematoria - all of those leave a shocking impression allowing to imagine the scale of Holocaust.

    3. Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau

After the 1st camp short break up to 15 minutes is planned. You will be taken by us to visit the second part of the tour - Birkenau (Auschwitz II), only 3 minutes away, which is the largest camp built and operated for the specific purpose of making Europe ''Judenrein'' (free of Jews). The same guide continues a poignant lecture about the camp in the village Brzezinka (Birkenau) which was constructed in 1941 on the order of Heinrich Himmler (SS commander) and could hold some 90 000 prisoners. You will be told about terrible stories of unimaginable living conditions as well as cruel selection and pseudo-scientific medical experiments made by prominent Nazi doctors including Josef Mengele. A history about soldiers of the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front opened the gates of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, which meant the final liberation, ends your tour with a feeling, both this genocide should never have happened and it can not happen again.

    Appalling experience. Entire trip ruined.

We booked an Auschwitz-Birkenau tour through Hello Cracow months in advance. Auschwitz was the main reason we chose Krakow, and the trip was specifically planned around my daughter’s birthday. On the day, we followed the pickup instructions provided by their driver, but the taxi left after approximately one minute. We were then given the wrong address for the coach meeting point and, despite following the instructions we were given, ended up at the wrong location. After contacting Hello Cracow, we were told we could be moved onto an Auschwitz tour the following day. We relied on this and paid for the Salt Mines again so we could attend Auschwitz the next day. They subsequently admitted in writing that they had made a mistake and that there was no availability. Auschwitz was then fully booked for the rest of our stay, meaning we never got to visit. They agreed to a 100% refund, but several days later we have only received one child’s ticket refund. The two adult tickets and other child’s ticket remain outstanding. They have also refused to reimburse the second Salt Mine booking, despite acknowledging that we purchased it because of the incorrect information they provided. The manager has now stopped responding to us. Mistakes happen, but the way this was handled was unacceptable. We followed the information provided to us, were given incorrect information afterwards, incurred additional costs as a result, and ultimately lost the main experience our trip was planned around. I would not recommend.

Response from the operator: We sincerely apologise for the situation and for the experience you had with us. We are currently in direct contact with you to clarify everything and resolve the outstanding issues. The way this case was handled does not reflect the standards we set for ourselves or the level of service we aim to provide to our guests. We understand your disappointment and are doing our best to find the right solution.

    Horrible service

Don't even think of hiring this company . My wife and I were abandoned by the guide, a so called Michael, who was responsible for the group at the time to enter Auschwitz. It happened on August 21st, 2026 after paying 62 euros each. The result: we missed the chance to visit the camp, our main goal on a trip from a distance of 2.300 kilómeters. Nobody gave us neither a response nor a compensation. It has only a name: A RIPOFF

Response from the operator: We are very sorry to hear about your disappointment, especially knowing how important this visit was for you and your wife. We understand how upsetting it must have been to miss the entrance to Auschwitz-Birkenau. However, we would like to clarify that during the tour it is essential that guests stay close to the group and follow the instructions of the tour leader. The guide is responsible not only for individual guests but also for the rest of the group — in this case, around 25 other participants who followed the instructions and were ready to enter. The tour leader cannot leave the group and delay the entrance to search for guests who have separated themselves, as this would affect the experience and scheduled entry for everyone else. Respecting the meeting instructions is also a matter of fairness and respect towards the other guests who are following the arrangements. We are sorry that this situation resulted in you missing the visit and we regret the disappointment it caused. Bad customer relations

Hello krakow terrible communication book whatever time you want then the day you cannot cancel they tell you pickup is like 5 in the morning. We missed the pick up because of this time and they don’t want to help you.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you felt disappointed with the communication and the pickup arrangements. We understand that an unexpected change in pickup time can be frustrating, especially when it affects your plans. For Auschwitz-Birkenau tours, the exact pickup time can sometimes vary depending on museum availability, entry schedules, and operational arrangements. We always send updated pickup details before the tour and recommend checking the latest WhatsApp messages, as this is where we provide the confirmed time and all important instructions. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve our communication and support for future guests. #HelloCracow #AuschwitzTour #CustomerExperience #GuidedToursKrakow

Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krakow.

How much does Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow cost?

    +

Prices start at $34 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krakow usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krakow is not rushed.

Is Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 90 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 830 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Krakow, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow?

    +

Around 291 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Auschwitz & Birkenau Guided Tour with Hotel Pickup from Krakow start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krakow within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Krakow?

    +

On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow: Zakopane & Hot Springs Tour with Cable Car (Hotel Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
