Grotta dello Smeraldo (Emerald Grotto)
The Grotta of Smeraldo (tickets included) known as well with the name of "Emerald Cave" was named after the characteristic green light inside the cave. It is caused by natural sunlight from outside which enters the cave through an underground passage, which connects the salt water lake in the huge chamber with the sea outside. The water filters the sunlight and only green wave lengths reach the cave. You will enter the cave through an artificial tunnel. Inside there is a jetty with numerous wooden boats. The boat ride is the actual tour, so after a short look around you may enter the next boat and enjoy the calm gliding of the motorless boat. In rare cases, of very bad weather and sea conditions entrances to Emerald Grotto could be cancelled, from official management, in this case, outside our control, you will spend more time to visit the Amalfi Coast panoramic views. No refund is due.

Great way to spend the day.
Marco was our driver for the day and was waiting at the Naples port with our name on it. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out many points of interest. We started on the Sorrento coast then made our way over the hill to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello all on the Amalfi coast. He picked a great lunch spot for us over looking the sea. Was money well spent for the limited time we had in port. Saw a lot in 9 hours. Would definitely do it again. Much better with a private driver than on a bus.

Excellent shore excursion. Our driver, Diego, was a great tour guide, allowing us to stop for pictures whenever asked, and spend as much time as needed in each location. I highly recommend Viator and the Amalfi Coast private shore excursion.

Our driver was amazing! He was waiting for the 6 of us as we left the ship. Shortly after entering the car he asked us if there was anything in particular that we wanted to see or do so that he would be sure to satisfy all of our wants and desires. He took us to all the sights and even arranged our lunch at a restaurant on top of the cliff overlooking the sea. We ate the most amazing pizza overlooking breathless views. We also had by far, the most amazing Sfogliatelle we have EVER had! We ate fresh picked cherries from a vendor at one stop and frozen ice at another. What an Amazing tour!! One we will never forget!!

Our only regret was that we didn't get the driver's information. My wife and I are planning a longer visit soon to the Amalfi Coast and would have loved to use him again!

How much does Amalfi Coast Positano & Emerald Grotto Naples Port ShoreExcursion cost?

Is Amalfi Coast Positano & Emerald Grotto Naples Port ShoreExcursion worth it?
+

Can I cancel or reschedule Amalfi Coast Positano & Emerald Grotto Naples Port ShoreExcursion?
+

How far in advance should I book Amalfi Coast Positano & Emerald Grotto Naples Port ShoreExcursion?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Positano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Positano and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

What are the best things to do in Positano?
+
On Outty we rank every Positano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cooking class with Pasta, mozzarella and Tiramisu with wine, Capri and Blue Grotto Semi Private Boat Day Trip from Sorrento, From Sorrento: Positano & Amalfi Coast Boat Tour with Pick Up. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Positano?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Positano?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
