So nice when you get there. The entrance portion is more confusing than it should be
Terrible arrival information.
Response from the operator: Thank you! Pier 33 is all you need and sums it all up! The only thing going on at Pier 33 is Alcatraz. We did make it easy by saying: Alcatraz Tour XX Arrive by XX Doors Close XX We did our best.

It was great!!
Everything worked great I can not understand the bad reviews the ticket worked perfectly you just have to be there early enough, I recommend min. 45 minutes.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! We as a small business need great people like you! We send out tickets the day before; we text everyone; and do what it takes. All we do is ask people to arrive prior to Alcatraz closing the doors. We are here to make memories...not problems. Thank you for letting us make the day special.

Don’t use bike hut tour operator. I was a terrible customer experience
Viator was great but the service operator at Bike Hut was absolutely terrible. The Tickets that the Bike hut people put in were under the Bike hut Operator‘s name, Adam Kutner. My name is Kurt Weinrich and the people at the Pier trying to get me on the Alcatraz ship could not use my tickets because they were in the Operator’s name. When I mentioned this to Tour Operator, which was done at the direction of Viator, this Tour Operator Adam Kutner was rude and short with me and sarcastic. Eventually, he refunded my ticket because I told him I had to buy another round of tickets, but he was rude and sarcastic and told me it was all my fault. I have no control over the name. The tickets were issued in and he issued him in his own name, which is absolutely stupid. He took no ownership for the prom at All and A. resulted in a refund which she’s now blaming me for. It was a terrible experience.
Response from the operator: For the record we sent you valid tickets. You were late. Plain and simple. No sugar coating this. Guests who read this review will understand what happened. If you were on time you would have easily walked on to the Alcatraz boat. The truth of your one star was you were late. Pier footage shows you arrived after the time they closed the doors to your boat. We watched you walk up after the doors were closed and walked to the desk. At that point you were late with no way for us to assist. Our manager Adam got you tickets in Bike Hut name and sent them to you two days prior. You were part of our group tickets. You were emailed the tickets, sent a text saying we sent the tickets, and texted the actual tickets to your phone. You showed up late. They wanted Adam to help switch your tickets. We were not there to help someone who is late. We told you we would not help you if you were late well in advance. We did everything we could for you. All you had to do is be there 20 mins early and your day would have worked well for you. Our company lost $200 on your lateness which is detrimental to our small business. Thank you in advance that and this one star review.

Why this scores 48
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket cost?
+
Prices start at $74 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Alcatraz Day Tour with Wharf Discounts: Assigned Time Ticket start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
