    Team Alex! 10/10

I did this tour with my dad and Alex was our tour guide and he was the definition of a perfect tour guide. He was very genuine, honest, helpful, professional, extremely knowledgeable and he made our tour 10/10. We learnt a lot from Alex before the tour officially started! My highlight of the tour was definitely swimming with the turtles! It was magical and I love how the team really care about the nature and wildlife especially making sure the turtles are respected and admired. As for the cenotes, stunning! also had protection protocols which had to be followed in order to protect the cenotes! The photographer (I am really sorry can’t remember his name) was super friendly, funny and took the most beautiful photos! He was so patient aswell. Thank you! Lastly the driver Alex, deserves a mention as he got us there and back safely! Thank you team Alex so much for a wonderful day filled with memories!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that Alex made such a positive impact on your experience. His passion for sharing the culture, history, and natural beauty of the Riviera Maya is something we are very proud of. We're also happy that you enjoyed swimming with the turtles and exploring the cenotes while learning about the conservation efforts that help protect these unique ecosystems. We will be sure to share your kind words with Alex, our photographer, and our driver as well. Thank you for choosing Ruta Maya Ecotours. We hope to welcome you and your dad back for another adventure in the future! Ruta Maya Ecotours Team

    Turtugas y cenotes

Enrique and Dasier “Danger” were amazing guides. E shared so much amazing information and Mayan history. Our buddy, newly nicknamed Danger, got us some amazing quality photos. It was so nice to not have to worry about taking photos ourselves and potentially losing our equipment. Highly recommend these guys for the tour. Alejandro was a great, efficient driver!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your day with Enrique, Danger, and Alejandro. We'll be sure to share your kind words with them—they'll be thrilled to know they helped make your experience so memorable. Thank you for choosing Ruta Maya Eco Tours, and we hope to see you again on your next visit to the Riviera Maya!

    Great excursion!

Our guide Enrique really helped ensure that this was a great trip. He was very knowledgeable, humorous and engaging; the kind of guy you wanna stay friends with after the excursion. He was very safety conscious and had a great knowledge of the history, geology and current ecological challenges of our 3 destinations that day (snorkeling with turtles, hiking and swimming the Centote and touring Tulum. The only bumps were that the fellow at our resort who sold us the excursion said we would not be getting into the water with the Turtles, which led some in our party to have to scrub off sunscreen applied before leaving that part the excursion, which we were happy to do to help protect the coral. He also told us the resort "owned" the Cenote and had exclusive access to it (not a problem but just factually incorrect. It's a big day with a lot of walking, so be aware of that if anyone in your party has mobility issues. The customary order of this excursion is to visit Tulum 1st, but there were emergent issues at Tulum the day of our excursion, forcing us to visit Tulum last, in the hottest part of the day so it was quite hot. Swimming in the Cenote was a magical, bucket list-worthy experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a thoughtful review! We’re really happy to hear you had a great experience with Enrique — your description of him honestly made us smile 😊 We’ll definitely share your kind words with him. We also appreciate you pointing out the confusion regarding the turtle snorkeling and cenote information shared at the resort. Feedback like this truly helps us improve communication with our sales partners so guests arrive with the right expectations.. Thank you again for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to welcome you back to the Riviera Maya soon! Ruta Maya Ecotours Team

Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.

How much does Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.

Is Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Akumal Snorkeling Tour with Cenote & Cavern Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?

    +

On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
