Excellent abstract painting class with Andrea

I have a genuine interest in learning to paint - and enjoying the process. I took a morning abstract painting class with Andrea. She is welcoming, knowledgable and talented. Andrea produces great art and can help you do the same. Her teaching background allows her to be prescriptive but patient and leaves plenty of room for personal exploration. When I am in the Santa Fe area again I plan to take additional classes with her. If you are looking to learn techniques and have a great experience take a class with Andrea.

    Santa Fe Art Retreat

This is a very well-organized and well-taught class in abstract art. Although one probably does have an advantage if he has a little art background, I had very little background in any kind of art and still learned a lot and enjoyed myself. The instructor, Andrea, who has a background as both an educator and a professional artist, was very friendly, energetic, and helpful to all students, regardless of their level of art experience. This was an excellent vacation for my wife and me, 4 days of non-stop abstract art instruction and collegiality with other amateur art students. The location of the retreat in Santa Fe also helped; it is a beautiful city with many good restaurants and centrally located hotels. The art retreat was held at Andrea's house, further south from the city center, but it was an easy drive in light traffic. Parking at her house was not a problem.

    Joyful and Valuable Painting Experience

I took the 2 hr abstract painting class with my daughter (11 years old) and we had so much fun and learned so much about how to improve our painting and explore new styles and materials. Such a valuable and joyful experience! Thank you Andrea, you are an incredibly gifted teacher!

    Educational and Fun Painting Retreat

I thoroughly enjoyed Andrea’s abstract painting retreat. We started with a tour of Canyon Road for inspiration. Over the 3 remaining days Andrea provided instruction, encouragement and inspiration. She is a great instructor! We were able to use both canvas and wood panels in various sizes. Andrea demonstrated a number of techniques and provided a great selection of materials. I left feeling proud of my work and excited to paint more at home. We also had a wonderful group of people in the class. It was fun to see how everyone approached their work and how different all the paintings were. Very fun and inspiring!

Abstract Painting Class: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santa Fe.

How much does Abstract Painting Class cost?

    +

Prices start at $475 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santa Fe usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Abstract Painting Class take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santa Fe is not rushed.

Is Abstract Painting Class worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santa Fe, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Abstract Painting Class?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Abstract Painting Class suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Abstract Painting Class?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santa Fe can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santa Fe and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Abstract Painting Class start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santa Fe within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Santa Fe?

    +

Santa Fe runs on culture: Canyon Road gallery walks, Georgia O'Keeffe country and Ghost Ranch tours, pueblo visits, green chile food tours and Bandelier hikes. Cultural access and guide expertise matter more than price here. On Outty we rank every Santa Fe experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Santa Fe Revisited, Santa Fe Ultimate History Walking Tour, The ORIGINAL Wander New Mexico "Sip & Savor" Plaza Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Santa Fe?

    +

April to June and September to October, with Indian Market in August. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Santa Fe?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
