Unique tour of an underappreciated attraction.
This site doesn’t seem to make it into the guide books, so few people know about it. We enjoyed learning about the artist and his work, but the best thing about the tour is that it is given by his grandson and includes stories about the family, the business of art, the continuing connection to the Apache community, etc., and all told in a refreshingly unpolished and personal way. I hope they find a way to get the word out. They provided ice water and parasols, which we really appreciated.

Awe Inspiring
The guided tour lasts about 2 hours. It’s outdoors, so dress accordingly. That said, you will likely meet Sam, Allan Houser’s grandson, who acted as our guide and generously shared his vast knowledge of his grandfather’s works and of the family background. We were awed by the beauty and sheer number of sculptures in the stark setting. Highly recommend!

an incredible tour of Allan Houser's sculptures and the museum
Allen's grandson, Sam, toured us around on a golf cart for about 3 1/2 hrs. His stories about his grandfather's accomplishments were wonderful. The sculpture displays were mesmerizing, even stunning. What an incredible talent!! Many have sold for millions, smaller ones are to be had for a few thousand. His work is on display all over the world. Just in case you don't know it, Allen Houser is an Apache Indian whose art (often bronze) focused on his people. Just stunning!! We also went into the museum which houses a lot of Indian art work, the last known photo of Geronimo, baskets, rifles, etc.

Beautiful works of a gifted artist
An insightful tour given by Allan Houser's grandson, Sam. He shared so many wonderful stories about his grandfather, Allan, and details about the sculptures. Clearly, Allan Houser was a gifted artist who left a legacy through his art. I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing Art in an Amazing Location
This was a fantastic tour. Allan Houser’s Grandson, Sam, conducted the tour. The vastness of this collection is mind boggling. But more so, the incredible stories and insights that only a family member could have made this tour so special. We were given all the time we needed to view the outdoor sculptures and Sam was so kind and interesting as we peppered him with question after question. His family’s story and the legacy of the amazing art will stay with us for a long time. The paintings, sketches and smaller works in the gallery are also fantastic and because we were a small group we were entitled to visit the archive which is the building that was Mr Houser’s studio. It’s a beautiful place in a beautiful location and highly recommended

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santa Fe.
How much does Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santa Fe usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santa Fe is not rushed.
Is Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santa Fe, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santa Fe can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santa Fe and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Allan Houser Sculpture Garden and Studio Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santa Fe within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Santa Fe?
+
Santa Fe runs on culture: Canyon Road gallery walks, Georgia O'Keeffe country and Ghost Ranch tours, pueblo visits, green chile food tours and Bandelier hikes. Cultural access and guide expertise matter more than price here. On Outty we rank every Santa Fe experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Santa Fe Revisited, Santa Fe Ultimate History Walking Tour, The ORIGINAL Wander New Mexico "Sip & Savor" Plaza Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Santa Fe?
+
April to June and September to October, with Indian Market in August. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Santa Fe?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
