Perfect Taipei Layover Tour
We had an overnight layover in Taiwan and decided to take the chance to see finally see the famed Raohe night market. With such little time, I knew I didn't to be stressed about knowing where to go so booked this private tour. Eva was such a great tour guide (I've been on many great tours with Viator and she is among the best guides I've encountered. Even before we arrived she messaged us and helped us figure out how to make the most of our time in terms of getting into the city from the airport. We not only spent time in the markets but also gave us historical and cultural context of its relation to the temple next door. We would not have otherwise happened upon all the information just exploring ourselves. Thanks so much, Eva!

Experience the Foods of Taipei
Truly an experience to visit a night market in Taipei even with a festival going on at the same time nearby that made it very crowded. The sites, the smells, the food you don't want to miss the experience. It was nice to have Sonya to explain the smells and what the foods were, a lot of it we had never seen before.

The tour, and Eva, are amazing!
Eva was amazing! Our flight was delayed and Eva still made sure our tour was perfect! She made it easy to know exactly where to meet her, and she was right on time, despite our delay. We do a lot of food and market tours, and Eva is one of the very best guides we have met. We learned a ton, and enjoyed so many amazing foods we otherwise might have missed. Highly recommended!

Total No-Show: Unprofessional Communication from Withlocals/Viator
I am beyond disappointed with the unprofessionalism displayed by Withlocals/ Viator during my recent trip to Taipei. I booked a private city night tour, and while the companies were more than happy to send multiple automated texts leading up to the day, they completely failed when it actually mattered. • Zero Notification: I received no email, no text, and no call regarding a cancellation. • Stood Up: I arrived at the meeting site on time. I had even messaged the tour guide an hour beforehand to check in—silence. • Hidden Status: It wasn't until the tour start time had passed that I had to go into my TripAdvisor account, click "Contact Tour Operator," and only then did a note appear saying it was cancelled. • Wasted Resources: Because of this lack of courtesy, I wasted significant money on round-trip cab fares and, more importantly, I wasted my limited time in Taipei. If I had been notified even a few hours prior, I could have pivoted and booked another experience. Instead, I was left stranded. To send marketing or reminder texts but fail to send a cancellation notice is a poor way of doing business and shows a total lack of respect for the customer’s time and money. Avoid this service if you want a reliable itinerary.
Response from the operator: Dear Joanne, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this situation caused you, especially after you had already made the effort to travel to the meeting point. We completely understand how disappointing that must have been. After reviewing the booking, we can see that there was an unfortunate synchronization issue between the Withlocals and Viator systems. Because of this technical mismatch, the cancellation notice unfortunately did not reach you in time. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and confusion this created. We truly hope that despite this setback you were still able to enjoy your time in Taipei and experience some of what makes the city so special. We would be very happy to have the opportunity to welcome you on a Withlocals experience in the future, so you can experience the care, quality, and authenticity our tours are meant to offer. Kind regards, The Withlocals Team

Daphne was so patient...
Daphne was so patient with us when we were 10 minutes late and didn’t make us feel bad at all! She was super knowledgeable about tourism and answered all of my questions. Then we went to the Night market and she picked amazing flavor profiles, even though my stomach was a little upset from the airplane food on the way to Taipei. I wish I could’ve spent the weekend with her learning more about this beautiful nation. Thank Daphne!! I wish I could say more but you just have to go! Mazu will bless you for many lifetimes!

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Taipei.
How much does A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $47 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Taipei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Taipei is not rushed.
Is A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Taipei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Taipei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Taipei and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does A Magical Evening in Taipei: Private City Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Taipei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Taipei?
+
On Outty we rank every Taipei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Private Custom Taipei City Tour, Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi, Full-Day Private Northern Taiwan Tour from Taipei with Pickup. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Taipei?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Taipei?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
