An Amazing 7-Day Kilimanjaro Trek via Machame Route

We had an amazing experience hiking Mount Kilimanjaro for 7 days via the Machame Route with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris. We knew before starting that Machame is one of the more challenging routes, but the whole experience was made much easier because of the great support from the entire team. Our guides, Toni and Abdi, were both wonderful. They were friendly, patient and very professional, and they always made sure we were feeling well and moving at a comfortable pace. The porters and the rest of the team also worked incredibly hard throughout the trek. Everything was well organized from the first day until we reached the summit. Our meals were another highlight of the trip. Having three meals every day, together with small snacks along the way, gave us the energy we needed for the long hiking days. We really appreciated how much care the team put into everything, especially during the summit night when the climb became much harder. Reaching Uhuru Peak after all the effort was an unforgettable moment for us. We honestly enjoyed the whole experience, not only the mountain itself but also the people who made the journey special. Tanzania Songbirds Safaris prepared everything very well and we always felt that we were in good hands. We are very happy with our decision to choose this company and would definitely recommend them to anyone planning to climb Kilimanjaro. If you are looking for a well-organized trek with a supportive and friendly team, we would happily recommend Tanzania Songbirds Safaris.

    What an experience

An amazing experience to summit Kilimanjaro and had a great time on safari afterwards. Well looked after on the hike, food was excellent, as were guides Sam and Justin as well as Bestie who helped us on summit day. Accommodation pre and post hike and on safari was also of a good standard and had opportunity to rent hiking equipment if needed. Thank you!

Classic Tanzania Safari with Kilimanjaro Bucketlist Company

The trip of a lifetime experience! I am so grateful that we booked with Kilimanjaro Bucketlist Expedition. I had heard great things about the company on Trip Advisor and they did not disappoint. The entire process from the initial inquiry over the email through the end was seamless and so professional. The team was very accommodating to changes we made to our private tour and responded quickly despite the time difference. Our guide Justin, was excellent and knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna and culture. Justin's knowledge of the animals and ability to see them from a distance is a top class. We feel so grateful that he was our guide. Justin also kept the car in good condition. Despite the dusty conditions, each morning the car would look good as new

5* treatment from Kilimanjaro Bucketlist Expeditions

I climbed this route in February 2026 and from the initial checks on our packing gear to our final goodbyes I have only the highest praise for Tim Zach and his amazing team. Even before arriving in Africa, Tim dealt with our many online queries promptly and completely. On arrival we were met with a friendliness that immediately put us at ease and lasted for the duration of our trip. The attention to detail and to our safety was reassuring and the good humour of all Tim’s porters, guides etc made it a very memorable trip and certainly lived up to my bucketlist expectations. I summited on the morning of my 60th Birthday, what a memory, what a team! I should also add that I travelled onwards to Zanzibar and Tim Zach put me in contact with his colleagues there who were fantastic with airport transfers, taxis in Zanzibar and local tours also. I wholeheartedly recommend Kilimanjaro Bucketlist Expeditions. If you get the chance, just book it, you won’t regret it!!

8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.

How much does 8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route cost?

    +

Prices start at $3,950 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route take?

    +

Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moshi is not rushed.

Is 8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 44 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route?

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moshi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 8 Days Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moshi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Moshi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch, Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Half Day Tour, Kilimanjaro climb, Machame Route (7-day). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Moshi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Moshi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
