9-day, 8 night tour of Dublin and the south and west of Ireland

We recently returned from an amazing private guided trip through Ireland with Overland Tours. I took my 18-year-old daughter and her friend as their high school graduation present. While Ireland itself was wonderful, what truly made the trip special was our guide, Cathal. Cathal was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. He was warm, knowledgeable, easygoing, and incredibly flexible. Although we had an itinerary, he always made it clear that it was *our* trip and that we could change, add, or skip anything we wanted. We never felt rushed or locked into a schedule. If we wanted a later start, wanted to spend more time somewhere, or heard about something along the way that sounded fun, Cathal was completely happy to adjust the day. That flexibility made traveling with two 18-year-olds especially easy and allowed the trip to feel personal rather than like a packaged tour. Our itinerary included one night in Dublin, two nights in Kinsale, two nights in Dingle, two nights at Dromoland Castle, and a final night in Dublin. Dromoland Castle was definitely one of the highlights of the trip, but we had so many memorable experiences along the way. Some of our favorites were holding and feeding baby lambs, watching an incredible sheepdog demonstration, driving our own little boat in Cobh, and doing a beautiful cliff walk with a local guide from the Cliffs of Moher toward Doolin. Cathal seemed to know exactly how to balance sightseeing with spontaneous experiences, and he always had suggestions without ever pushing us to do something we weren't interested in. More than anything, he was just such an enjoyable person to spend the week with. By the end of the trip, it felt less like we had been traveling with a tour guide and more like we had been traveling around Ireland with a knowledgeable local friend. This was such a special graduation trip for my daughter and her friend, and Cathal played a huge part in making it something all three of us will remember forever. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a private, personalized way to experience Ireland.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We are thrilled to hear that your daughter’s graduation trip was such a special and memorable experience for all of you. It is fantastic to know that Cathal made such a positive impact with his flexibility and local knowledge, ensuring the journey felt personal and relaxed. We are so glad you enjoyed the highlights like the stay at Dromoland Castle and the sheepdog demonstration. We truly appreciate your recommendation and would love to welcome you back to Ireland or perhaps to join us for a new adventure in Portugal soon! Warmest regards, Ilaria & all at Overland Tours

    Great Craic!! Amazing trip!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Conor was more than a guide—he became part of our Ireland adventure. Over the week, he led us through breathtaking castles, cliffs, national parks, and charming coastal towns along the Wild Atlantic Way, making every moment unforgettable. His knowledge of Ireland’s history and culture was matched only by his humor, kindness, and genuine care for our group. He kept 15 women laughing, learning, and completely looked after the entire trip with ease! By the end of the journey, it truly felt like we were leaving family behind. Even the drive back was unforgettable—car karaoke with Conor was an absolute highlight and the perfect way to wrap up an incredible week of memories, laughter, and music. We leave with lifelong memories, and Conor is a huge part of them. Five stars aren’t enough—sláinte, Conor, and thank you for an incredible experience! ☘️🇮🇪

Response from the operator: What a delight to read about your experience! We are overjoyed that Conor felt like family by the end of your trip. He has a unique talent for making sure everyone feels comfortable, included and entertained. Hearing about the car karaoke and the fantastic group vibe truly makes our day. Thank you for choosing Overland Tours for such a special journey. We would be absolutely thrilled to welcome your group back to the Emerald Isle or perhaps to explore a new destination with us in Portugal in the future. We could not of asked for a better experience. Conor was our guide and phenomenal!!! He made sure everyone in our group got to experience what they were most excited to do and see. I do not know how he kept 15 ladies all happy, content, and on schedule. But he managed to do 100%. We were all a little emotional telling him goodbye. ❤️

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We are delighted to hear that you had such a phenomenal experience. Conor is a wonderful guide and we are so glad to hear he kept your group happy and on schedule. It sounds like you all had a truly memorable time. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back to Ireland or for a new adventure in Portugal soon! Warmest regards, Jessica & all at Overland Tours

    Overland’s Southern Irish Tour

Overland’s 5 day Irish tour was a very enjoyable experience for my first visit to Ireland. The tour was well organized with timely trips between sites. Guides at these sites were very informative in describing the history and special features not obvious to a first time visitor. What tide all of what we were seeing, experiencing and feeling during the tour was our driver, Mark, whose knowledge of sites we passed by, culture comparisons, places to eat, where to listen to music and shop simplified the choices in feeling comfortable at each new site we arrived at. Mark’s attention to everyones needs and concerns emphasized the phrase of “No worries”. He made the tour for us successful and memorable. Our group thanks Mark for his attention to detail and in-depth knowledge to all that is Ireland. If I return to Ireland, Mark will be my only choice as a tour guide.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted that your first visit to Ireland was such a success and that our tour provided a memorable experience. It is fantastic to hear how much you appreciated the organization of the trip and the insights from our local guides. We will be sure to pass your kind words along to Mark. He truly embodies the "no worries" spirit and takes great pride in his attention to detail and local knowledge. Thank you for choosing Overland and we would love to welcome you back to Ireland or for a new adventure in Portugal in the future! Warmest regards, Tucker & all at Overland Tours

6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dublin.

How much does 6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $1977 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dublin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 144 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dublin is not rushed.

Is 6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 56 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Dublin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 144-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour?

    +

Around 20 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dublin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dublin and add a light layer if any part of the 144-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 6-Day Magical Southern Explorer Small Group Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dublin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dublin?

    +

On Outty we rank every Dublin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dublin to Cliffs of Moher, including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway, Dublin Highlights and Hidden Gems Guided Walking Tour, The Little Museum of Dublin Famous Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dublin?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dublin?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
