What you get

    About this experience

Exclusive Excursions is happy be on The Great Salt Lake, which is the saltiest body of water in the Western Hemisphere. Come enjoy this experience by actually going out on the lake rather than just seeing it from the shore. We will do a short boat ride around the marina area, hear some stories, history and jokes about the lake, and even do a few demonstrations. And of course have time for a good picture or two. Since it’s only 45 minutes and the lake is so big and wide, we just stay within a mile of the marina and this tour is not a high speed boat ride because the captain likes to give commentary the whole time. Some people complain that we don’t go fast or farther out in the lake so this is why. Yes the great salt lake has bugs near the marina. They don’t bite but can swarm at times. We give you hats with nets to keep them out of your face so please take one so they don’t “bug” you. Give us a call if you want an update about the current bug situation since it always changes.

    2. Great Salt Lake

We will head out on the lake on our motorized pontoon boat. We will get to see some great views of the lake and shoreline. We will hear some stories, history and even a joke or two about this world unique area. Since the lake is so big and wide, we just stay within a mile of the marina since all the islands are several miles away and the views really don’t change getting further in the middle of the lake. The boat goes slow so the captain can give commentary the whole time. If you are looking for a high speed boat tour that circumnavigates the lake, this is probably not the tour for you since it’s only 45 minutes long.

AvLake Tour Worth its Weight in Salt

My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic experience on the 45-minute boat tour of the Great Salt Lake! Our captain was not only incredibly knowledgeable and informative, but also funny and entertaining, which made the entire tour even more enjoyable. We learned so much about the Great Salt Lake and the surrounding area while taking in some beautiful scenery. It was the perfect way to experience the lake, and we’re so glad we decided to do it! You guys did a fantastic job from start to finish. When we visit Salt Lake City again, we definitely want to come back and book the 4-hour island tour. We can’t wait! Highly recommend this tour—you won’t be disappointed

    Cruising

Captain Duncan! You were a wonderful tour guide and very knowledgeable about Utah and up to date with its changing environment. Thank you so much for an amazing time cruising the Great Salt Lake. It was a breathtaking (literally lol) experience with clear skies and tranquility. My partner who is a (tough guy) was able to find the beauty of the lake and wouldn’t stop talking about it. Fun time!

    Great time on the lake!

We had a great and relaxing time with our captain Jack. I wish I had brought my bathing suit so I could have jumped in to cool off ( and to experience the salt water)

45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Salt Lake City.

How much does 45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Salt Lake City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Salt Lake City is not rushed.

Is 45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 1,011 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Salt Lake City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour?

    +

Around 354 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Salt Lake City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Salt Lake City and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 45 Minute Great Salt Lake Boat Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Salt Lake City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Salt Lake City?

    +

Salt Lake City is a basecamp: Big and Little Cottonwood canyon hikes and ski shuttles, Antelope Island and Great Salt Lake trips, Park City transfers and Temple Square walking tours. Winter transfer reliability is the single biggest quality signal here. On Outty we rank every Salt Lake City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Salt Lake City Guided Bus Tour, Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square & Salt Lake City Bus Tour, Great Salt Lake Safari - Discover Antelope Island. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Salt Lake City?

    +

December to March for skiing, June to September for canyon hiking. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Salt Lake City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
