Join us in this private tour of Pompeii off the beaten path with a REAL archaeologist! You will have the chance to walk and discover Pompeii, with our experience as archaeologists, on places and roads with no or just few people apart us! This tour will be the best way to appreciate the increadible ruins without be soffocated by the crowd and the hot temperature! We'll show you in a very relaxed way all the most important things but also the hidden details. Pompeii is the second archaeological site for number of visitors in Italy (after the Colosseum in Rome) and, expecially in high season from April to October, is overcrowded! Also during the summer could be very hot and warm! For these reasons we decide to create also a tour that start in the afternoon (usually from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm ONLY from APRIL to OCTOBER) when the archaeological site is empty from mass tourists and cooler for the sea breeze!

    Pompeii Tour with Roberto

Excellent tour! We had a great time with Roberto - he is very knowledgeable and engaging…he gave us history and details making for a fascinating tour. Our time with him went by too quickly - but we learned a lot

    The highlight of the trip

We booked a private tour of Pompeji with Roberto for our party of four. We thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Roberto is knowledgeable and passionate and really made ancient Pompeji come to life. Roberto was friendly, funny and good company to be around. We highly recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! It was my pleasure to guide you and your family at Pompeii

    Excellent private tour of Pompeii

We visited Pompeii in July and booked Francesco as our guide. He met us at the train station and took us in past the queues and gave us a brilliant private tour of the site. Roberto and Francesco had recommended we get there early when it opened so as to beat the cruise ship crowds and the heat; their advice was right on both counts. Our tour was 2 hours, and by the end the heat was getting too much for us (if we'd have been on our own without a guide, we'd have missed so much just trying to stand in the shade). Francesco absolutely made our visit. I was hesitant about paying for a private guide but I'm now recommending anyone I know who will be visiting to make sure they book this tour. Francesco is supremely knowledgeable and will take you to see all the best bits you'd never find without him. Thank you, Roberto and Francesco!

Amazing tour - educational and fun!

We toured Pompeii with Roberto back in 2019 and loved it so much we came back! He is super knowledgeable, passionate, and relates very well to the group. His expertise and genuine care for the archaeological experience is unmatched. 10/10, can’t recommend this enough!

How much does 2 Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist cost?

    +

Prices start at $320 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 2 Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist take?

Is 2 Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 2 Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist?

Is 2 Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist suitable for kids and families?

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 2 Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Pompeii?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Pompeii?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
